I think 46-36, and I think that may be good enough for 6th seed in the West this year. I agree w/ A-Train that the 8th seed could get in w/ 42 wins because the top 11 teams are pretty solid and could beat the hell out of each other all year. By mideseason the "top four" crap is just a memory.
Two things could happen: 1. Negative prediction: -The Rockets struggle to beat bad/mediocre teams. -Steve and Cuttino continue to give up wide open shots to opposing guards. -Rudy continues his brand of iso-ball -The injury bug hits again. -Yao isn't used properly. -Rockets miss the playoffs with a 41-41 record. 2. Positive prediction: -The Rockets get another great record against the east, while beating the trashy teams of the west. -Steve and Cuttino play moderate defense, which improves team defense. -The Rockets stay relatively injury free. -Yao is used as a primary offensive weapon outside of Steve. -The Rockets implement this 'motion offense". -The Rockets sweep the Jazz, split the Spurs, and get a game against the Kings. -53-29, 5th seed. The Rockets face the Spurs in the first round and win in four, before losing to the Lakers in six. Yao can really turn this team around NOW, if he is used correctly.
51-31, #6 seed in the West. This team will be scary to face in the first round. By the way A-Train, I don't consider your prediction pessimistic. While I think the Rockets will win more then 42 games, I would take that if an 8 seed came along with it!
I meant his lack of desire to pass the ball. Ill never argue that Mobley doesnt have passion for the game or to win.
i should have added that clarification to the end of my original post. Going back and reading it, im suprised it took someone so long to pounce on me.
Anything less than a championship is just uncivilized. J/K I think 95 percent of the members on this board would be estatic if we made it to the second round. The other 5 percent are trolls that hang out here because the spurs don't have a good board of their own.
52-30. I've said it in other threads, and I'll stick to my guns. We start strong, waffle in late November and early December and then gain consistency. Finals, we are coMing.
Not if the rockets start winning. Yao is a huge attraction, especially to his asian community. Alot of people will want to see him play just because he's Yao Ming.
From what Ive read, season ticket sales are down from last year. So its not a given. Like you said, they key is winning. I think if we have a great year, the attendance will show up more so next year than this.
My only prediction is that if by game 20, Ming is still only getting 7 shots/game, he'll be looking back fondly to his time with the Chinese NT guards.
43-39 Mo becomes odd man out Ming does well for a rookie, but doesn't dominate Nachbar struggles Hawkins takes away a few minutes from Mobley who has reached his peak Francis continues to impress with his athleticism but people start to notice that he should be making better decisions by now. Moochie has good days.....and bad ones Ditto for Cato Eddie improves the most from last year Kenny overachieves, but is it enough? JC improves a little, at least in the few minutes we'll see of him when he visits us from IR Glen Rice is solid Terrence Morris does better than last year, but not much better than we've seen in the preseason. Tito keeps JC company on IR Tierre gets trapped in the backcourt and is never seen again. How does our record improve? We have more healthy talent this year, and after several disheartening losses, they start to put more emphasis on team play.
Where did you see that? That's great, it will really piss Shaq off if Yao Ming gets voted in. It may not be fair, but SFW...
