Maybe you should check the box score and compare the scores in the 1st quarter (0-3). Seeing how that's when usually most of the starters play. And the play by play will give a small indication on how long some of the offensive starters played especially the quarterbacks.

FYI, last night most of Arizona's starters only played one series. Fitzpatrick was going up against backups... Yikes.

No one said the sky was falling - here's where context matters again. If you look at the post I was responding to, it was specifically about the idea that they should look bad because they are implementing a new system with a new coach. The problem with that - and what your 49ers example confirms - is that there are tons of new coaches every year and they generally don't look that bad. You had to go back 4 years to find a similar example, despite the fact that there are 5-10 new coaches every year.

That doesn't mean much of anything in the grand scheme of things - one preseason game is fairly meaningless and people shouldn't be trying to too extract much from it. But the excuse that they would suck because of a new coach/system doesn't hold.

Well I wouldn't say no one is saying that the sky is falling, I think there are several here that are saying exactly that. However, I get that wasn't your intention. I also agree that we shouldn't have assumed that the Texans would have such a poor performance in their first preseason game simply because of the new coach and new system, but like you said, it doesn't mean much of anything in the grand scheme of things. If the Texans right the ship and go 10-6 in the regular season, no one will care about a poor preseason game, or 4 poor preseason games if that's how it ends up.

Didn't watch the game. Did catch Manziel. Read about the game, saw highlights. Just wanted to jump in and say lulzzzzzzzzzz at Clowney covering a wheel route. What a joke. Embarrassing.

Maybe you think more highly of Kaepernick than I do. IMO Kap is just a poor man's Russell Wilson. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibilities that Keenum could be a game manager who protects the ball.

Did you come across those coaches regular season W-L records (for those years) when you was looking for that information Mr JR...?

This franchise just has no freaking clue, and it starts with the old man. His delusions filter down and permeate the experience.

This team is such a joke, it does not deserve our attention.

I am still utterly clueless as to how we had such a successful back to back season stretch two years ago.

Looks like last year and this season are the years we regress to the mean. What a cluster****.

Ask any texans fan, coach, and uncle bob would they rather a "poor mans" Russ Wilson (kap) or the trash we have at qb. No brainer. Kap makes plays. Our qbs make plays for the opposing team.

In my experience, Texans fans are not very bright and are very fond of knee jerk reactions. For all we know, we have that kind of QB on the roster right now, but of course it's more fun to declare the sky is falling after one preseason game.

Had we won that game, I'm sure the same people who think the sky is falling today would be predicting a SB win right now.

Why can't we just let a little bit more play out before we abandon ship?

Case is going to be our starter again. Hope he's as good as you think he is. He shows flashes of brilliance. Reign him in and he has the best chance out of Fitz, himself, and Savage to be the "hold the fort" guy.

Well I'm not one of those people. I said 5-11 and that preseason game is not the reason why. Can't expect 10 wins with one of the worst starting qbs in football.

Why cant we sign Asante Samuel to add some depth to our crappy secondary? Brandon Harris is pure crap and needs to be removed from the roster, asap.

I was definitely disappointed last night in the effort but im still thinking things will gel more and more as the season progresses. We had some good players not in the game and Swearinger had the hit of the night. Nowhere to go but up.

I just hope he can protect the ball and be a successful game manager. IMO that would be enough.

I wasn't suggesting anyone in particular was, just that the overall fanbase is like that. I'm hoping either Fitz figures out how to protect the ball or they go with someone who can, if the past 2 years has shown us anything it's that you don't need a good QB to get to the SB, you just have to have a QB who protects the ball.
