imo, Romo is overrated and he will be exposed. Cowboys have two solid (not great but solid) backs and three good recivers. Their O-line sucks and their qb situation is not good.
And the Texans have...wait for it... A question mark at qb, a question mark at o-line (only a question mark because everyone says they will be better without Carr), one good receiver and then a bunch of unprovens, one solid aging rb and then a bunch of eh, a decent tight end. On defense...woof. The Texans have no pass rush, one good linebacker, one corner who is at least above average and the rest of the d is pretty weak. I don't think Dallas and Houston compare.
Part of the reason for the hype is that the cowboys looked great at certain parts of the season last year. And the issues that plagued them last year(inconsistant oline play, so-so pass rush, crappy fs) were actively addressed in the offseason. Whether the solutions work remains to be seen, but I personally liked the moves they made. Romo definitely did fade down the stretch as well, but I think it was a learning experience he'll bounce back strong this year. If everything goes right, I could definitely see them making a SB run. If everything goes sour though, they could wind up as a mediocre squad and end up with 6 wins or so. But you could say that about every team in the league. I'm excited that it looks like the Texans might be entertaining to watch on O this year. They had a stretch where they were mediocre during that 7-9 season, but other than that they have been flat out painful to watch.
at this point, if anyone thinks the Texans are on par with the Cowboys are freaking delusional. there's nothing wrong with optimism but the Cowboys are a far more superior team. give me there O-line, there running backs, and defense anytime of the week over the Texans. the only thing the Texans possibly do better is PR and KR.
We'll see. I kinda like the dallas oline this year. I know you don't like Davis, but I really like him as a guard. As a LT? no. I think Romo's struggles down the stretch last year will be an abberation, but if they are the norm then the cowboys will definitely be limited. I also like the change in coaching. Didn't seem like Parcell's heart was in it the past couple of years. I appreciate how he helped to stack the roster, but it was time to go. I like how the new coaches are leaning more to play to the the strengths of the players, rather than cling to a certain philosophy and make the players conform to it.
Wade Phillips=third teir head coach Wade Phillips=first tier d-cordinator Davis is only a slight talent upgrade over what they had and like I said Romo is overratted and Roy Williams is horrible in pass coverage. Oh yeah do they have a kicker who can do something? Best case for Cowboys, win their division, win in the wild card round and then lose to the Saints or Bears in the second round. Worst case, Romo gets hurt and they win 6 games because they don't have an NFL quality backup qb
Romo overrated? I'll take that bet. You call the stakes. Cowboys have three solid backs. Don't forget about Tyson Thompson. Romo WILL lead the Cowboys to the playoffs. Remember, what you said, "I"m done making predictions." ie. "Carr will prove all his doubters wrong" -Texanskan Sept. '06
Man there seems to be a lot of bitter Texans fans (or maybe Cowboy haters). Either way, you are letting your love of th Texans or hatred of the Boys trn into blatant stupidity. Take it from a fan of neither....the Cowboys are a whole lot better than the Texans...period. But guess what.....its preseason so either side shouldnt let anything go to their head.
Well I agree it is the preseason and while the Cowboys did not win their playoff game they did make the playoffs while the Texans only won 6 games. I think the Texans will go 9-7 and the Cowboys 10-6. Texans will miss the playoffs and the Cowboys will either lose in the wild card round or in the second round.
The cowgirls better make the playoffs cause their division suuuuuuuucks. I'm starting to loathe tony romo. he always has some goofy smirk on his face, and it makes me want to punch him. He hasnt proven ANYTHING yet.
that's funny as hell, a friend of mine was saying the same thing about how this dude Romo just looks like a little punk with that little smirk on his face. Well atleast he dosen't do guys in the ass like Aikman.
The Cowboys will have a better team than the Texans this year in all likelihood. That does not take away the fact the Cowboys and their fans stand for all that is wrong in life.
i hate the Texans for never drafting Young. Selvin Young. I bleed the Orange Rocky Mountain Crush. (I think he still on the team) He is a hero from the Houston Area. A hero or something, like on that tv show everyone watches.
I'll agree the Cowboys are definitely the better team heading into this season, but they are not a whole lot better. In the NFC, they might end up with up to 3 or 4 more wins, but you can't compare records in different conferences. Cowboys defense is certainly better, but how much we don't know. We really aren't going to know until we see the Texans D perform on Sunday's. Offensively, it's closer than most people think. The Cowboys aren't bad...but I think the Texans have a chance to be at least equal to them. Our offense is going to surprise people this year.
he looked awful the first series. still seems to lock in on one receiver. still panics when pressure comes on. looks much better this series.
