COWBOY FANS...REMEMBER THIS.... Your Record the first 6 years were 1960 0-11-1 1961 4-9-1 1962 5-8-1 1963 4-10 1964 5-8 1965 7-7 It wasn't until 1966 would you get into the playoffs the first time. It took your franchise 11 years before it won it's FIRST Superbowl. Houston Texans record 2002 4-12 2003 5-11 2004 7-9 2005 2-14 2006 6-10 Texans have a good shot of getting into the playoffs and winning a Superbowl before the Cowboys did. Time will tell!
Absolutely - I'm just suggesting that the opposite isn't true (that Dallas fans don't consider the Texans a huge rival). I think the best comparison is Texas vs. Texas Tech. For Tech fans, UT is a huge rival and a huge game - and that's absolutely logical/reasonable. For UT fans though, Tech is a fun game (because they air it out and such), but just because Tech hates UT doesn't make it a big game for UT. UT is much more concerned with the teams they consider to be their rivals - OU and A&M. Similarly, I think Dallas is far more concerned with and interested in the Eagles, Redskins, and Giants than they are with the Texans, regardless of if the Texans might hate them. Similarly, I think in the long-run, Texans fans will consider Tennessee, Indy, and Jacksonville much bigger rivals than Dallas. Right now, since Houston's not competing for division titles, the Indy/Jacksonville games aren't as big rivalries, but they will eventually become so. And if they keep facing a team in the playoffs, that team will become a huge rival, like San Fran is/was for Dallas.
I second that. All of the chatter on talk radio was how the Cowboys were legit SuperBowl contenders based on the showings of their first two preseason games. It was "Romo this and Romo that" or "TO will have a field day against the Texans". What happened is what usually happens when you take your opposition lightly (see results of Dallas Mavericks vs. Golden State in round one of the 2007 NBA Playoffs). The Cowboys thought that all they had to do is just show up and wave to the crowd only to discover (much to their chagrin) that Houston came to play for real. If anyone thinks that this game didn't matter to the Cowboys, all they had to do is to look at the expression on Wade Phillips' face as the game unfolded and they'd see just how "meaningless" this game was to them.
