Schaub also made a beautiful throw (under pressure) to Kevin Walter for a 3rd down conversion...but Walter dropped it. Not sure why the coaching staff is so high on Walter. They've basically penciled him in as a starter. Why?

Mario worries me too. He better have a hell of a year this year. He's healthy, he's no longer a rookie, it's time for him to step up. I will be watching him with a very critical eye this year...

Everyone is making a big deal about Walter dropping that pass...it was also a very good defensive play. Let's not dismiss him as a possibility to start over a couple of series' and one pass.

I'd be surprised if Jacoby wasn't starting by mid-season though.

yeah it's pretty disappointing. i can't see us ever getting our money's worth for him. all i did when i was at the game was watch okoye and williams and mario was extremely underwhelming. okoye had a good motor and seemed to show some ability to get past his man. mario just looked the same as last year. he just gets stood up by his man everytime. and a big    to his "it's only preseason" comment. who knows maybe kubiak sees something better in practice and maybe he will show it in the games at some point in time. but if he doesn't show much i think kubiak will be quick to cut his playing time.

I don't know why y'all are in such a hurry to push the panic button on Mario. I just am not worried about him -- I fully expect him to have a breakout season with at least 8 sacks. Honestly I don't see any reason why it won't happen.

yea, it was more of Walter just getting stripped than it was dropping the pass.

I would say we are more "worried" about Mario. You say you don't see any reason why it won't happen, but Mario really hasn't shown why it will. I know its only preaseason and Mario is still young, but IMHO...I have already seen why so many scouts were concerned about his drive/motor. This is a big concern for me considering him being a #1 pick.

The Texans did pretty good over all, except for Bradlee Van Carr.

I think our defensive line is going to be pretty darn good this year.

It's neither. It's the opinion of overhyped Texans fans who are still pissed about the '06 draft.

Rick Smith should of come down on the field and cut Van Pelt right after his only completion (to himself)

not much to read into. wasnt horrible...wasnt great.

watching schaub feel the pressure and get that pass to walters (where he was stripped by a good defensive play) i was happy for. Carr would have eaten that and took the sack. definitely a positive sign. Overthrowing the one pass, im not worried about. It stinks but no need to overreact.

I have some concerns about mario, he just seems to take himself out of a lot of plays. That being said, i thought he did rush grossman on one play. regardless, its a big year for him. What bothers me with mario is that he just doesnt blow tackles up or he really doesnt have any moves other than speed. that being said, its a long road.

    It's should've. Should have.

It's the conditional past perfect tense of a verb. "Kubiak had come" would be the past perfect, "Kubiak should have come" would be the conditional past perfect.

There is no such thing as "should of".

    OK, carry on then. :p

I think Mario will be fine. He got doubled a decent amount of the time that he was actually playing. Did he look like he was giving 100%? No. But it is just the first preseason game. I think he is going to be an impact player this season. Julius Peppers? No. 8 or 9 sacks? Hopefully.

You know, it's not like Chicago with their great defense was sacking us left and right until Bradlee Van Carr stepped on the field.
