    A sudden about-face in the scandal facing New Life Church's pastor.

    After Pastor Ted Haggard went public Wednesday night denying allegations of a homosexual affair, senior church officials told KKTV 11News Thursday evening, Pastor Ted Haggard has admitted to some of the claims made by a former male escort. The church's Acting Senior Pastor, Ross Parsley, tells KKTV 11 News that Pastor Haggard has admitted to some of the indiscretions claimed by Mike Jones, but not all of them.


    Thursday morning, Jones went on a Denver radio talk show and said Pastor Haggard paid him for sex over the past 3 years. Jones also claims Haggard used drugs with him.

    Right now, the situation is under investigation by an independent panel of leaders from four outside churches. The leaders are from Colorado Springs, Larkspur, Westminster and Louisiana. The panel's role is to decide if Haggard will be exonerated, released from his duties or restored to his pastorship.

    Earlier Thursday, Haggard resigned as President of the National Association of Evangelicals, and placed himself on administrative leave as head of New Life Church. New Life Church has an estimated 14,000 members, while the NAE claims roughly 30 million members.

    where is that thread that had all the republicans in the closet that were busted? add this guy to the list cause he confessed to his church (heard on the news this morning). there is nothing wrong with being gay, but bashing gays while your having affairs with people of the same sex is pretty evil.

    Where do you get that law? For the most part, people here decry every type of leader in every way: both political parties, every sportswriter, coach and player that was ever alive, their bosses etc.

    Leaders are there to be knocked down it seems to me.

    The denverpost says that the accuser failed a lie detector test. It also says that the man have 4 calls from the pastor but no messages were left. I'm not defending the pastor if he did it but this could also be a case of extortion, especially since the accuser's reason for going public was to stop the pastor from ridiculing his lifestyle...if the pastor's guilty then none of this is relevant...just a thought...it sucks to think that in that line of work in the public view that someone could just pop up and say anything w/o anything other than circumstantial proof and shut your whole life down.

    why did you cut my quote in half? i said it doesnt mean he is guilty, but it doesnt mean he is innocent.

    with the revelations of today though, it does indeed look like something was going on.

    one more in a long line of hypocritial evangelicals.

    usually there is something pretty solid if the press is going to run with the story.
    Remember a few years ago when there were all the Rick Perry gay stories going around. Not one reporter ran with that story even though all of Austin it seemed was waiting for it to break.

    The leader of the Christian church is Christ. Unfortunately his mid level facilitators are humans and they are quite fallible as a rule. I remember you saying in another thread that you had some bad experiences in churches, and I can strongly relate to that. I stayed away from churches for many years myself for similar reasons. But I eventually came to the belief that I had been partly right and party wrong in doing that. I believe I was right in staying away from the churches I’d had the bad experiences with, but I was wrong in concluding that all churches were that way, and I was wrong in that I was expecting too much from a church and its leaders. No church just like no human will be perfect. Some are much better than others, mind you, and if you are like me you may have to look a while before you find that right one, but the leader a Christian should be looking to first and foremost is Jesus. Your relationship is with him personally. A good church can be a help in many ways. I even know people who go to two or more churches and get different things from each one, but ultimately church is just an aid to assist you in your relationship with God.
