What happened to Palin, Herman Caine, Donald Trump, Bachman and Huckabee, and don't forget Romney?

You are getting caught up in political correctness. What he said isn't a big deal.

    It's phony outrage.

I'm not sure where you are seeing outrage i'm just pointing out an ignorant statement...

I can think of a few things worse than Obamacare -- for example -- Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

I'm pretty sure he's comparing it to slavery because every human being in this country owes the government something just for being alive.

You either have to pay for health insurance or you have to pay them to not sign up.

Comparing something to "slavery" is one of those big no-no's in politics like comparing something to Nazi's or Hitler. Whenever one of those words is mentioned, the other side automatically jumps on it like a "gotcha" moment, and they can completely discredit the overall point because they said something that wasn't "politically correct".

It's phony. It's a game people play in politics.

This is like saying "NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF T-PAW!" in 2010.

I love it when Commodore gets all predictive.

That wasn't a prediction, other than that he is certain to run.

If I had to guess who will run it would be:

    Certain to run: Christie/Paul/Rubio/Jindal/Walker
    Likely to run: Cruz/Perry/Jeb
Will not run: Ryan, Martinez, Ayotte (how the hell does this back bencher get such good press?), Carson, Palin
    No idea: Huckabee, Santorum

So far interesting to note that "Other" only has 11% of the poll so far.

    Not many appealing candidates......

Then again going into the primaries in 1992 everyone thought the (D) field looked terrible before Slick Willie emerged as the best President in 50 years... you just never know.

Maybe the Republicans can have a hologram of Teddy Roosevelt run..... but my guess is he is too liberal now.

Commodore goes from completely rational and measured to insane when it comes to politics.... even throwing out basic math two years ago. It is very bizarre.

So the leading candidate in this poll is the guy who thinks whites-only lunch counters should be legal and wants to abolish the department of education.

As I said in the CPAC thread, I like where this is going for the GOP.

    YIKES!

    Commodore faints

    from yesterday's WSJ (brutal)

    Rand Paul for President

Because what the GOP needs is a humbling landslide defeat.

No, what we need as the Republican nominee in 2016 is a man of more glaring disqualifications. Someone so nakedly unacceptable to the overwhelming majority of sane Americans that only the GOP could think of nominating him.

This man is Rand Paul, the junior senator from a state with eight electoral votes. The man who, as of this writing, has three years worth of experience in elected office. Barack Obama had more political experience when he ran for president. That's worked out well.

I don't think the GOP cares about the presidency at all anymore. Party elders know they can't win a national election so long as they continue to run on a divisive platform that hinges on retroactive social issues and unpopular cuts to entitlement programs. They've figured out that they can continue to run in local elections with low, polarized turnout, full of paid for "speech," and paralyze the mechanisms of government if they don't get their way.

Why change when you've learned how to game the system, maintain control of Congress despite receiving fewer overall votes and force policies toward your direction if the only other alternative is no functioning government at all?
