Most of those guys mentioned above will be picked light years ahead of #24. Word is alot of international players will be withdrawing from this draft probably moving up some unlikely 1st round picks. There could be some big sleepers like senior swingman Alan Anderson of Michigan State who is a defensive Doberman and the leading scorer in the Chicago camp last week. Also senior PF Jason Maxiell of Cincinnati, he is short for a 4 but has a 7'3 wingspan and Bobby Huggins said he was the best help defender he had ever coached. Looks as if senior David Lee may have played his way into the 1st round as well. These could be some JVG type of players that are not getting the big publicity the top names are getting and can come in and help right away. Of the list above I would like Fransisco Garcia, Jarret Jack and if we could move up in the draft Warrick and especially May.

NBADraft.net just updated their mock draft today. They have us taking CJ Miles 6-6 210 SG TX HS. Just missing out on Hakim Warrick by one pick.

Final results: Hakim Warrick edged out Ike Diogu for the perefct candidate:

    Total : 199 votes

    1.Hakim Warrick, 52 votes
    2.Ike Diogu, 48 votes
    3.Sean May, 30 votes
    4.Wayne Simien, 25 votes
    5.Chris Taft, 13 votes
    6.Francisco Garcia, 12 votes
    7.Ronny Turiaf, 9 votes
    8.Rudy Fernandez, 4 votes
    9.Jarrett Jack, 6-3, 3 votes

Now the problem is that neither candidate may be available when we select at #24. Maybe CD can swing a deal to land either one.

At least we now know if Ike Diogu and Chris Taft were available at 24 for example, but not necessarily the others on the list, then most people in here will go with Ike.

Of course this result might change from now until the draft. There could be trades involved on draft day, etc..

JVG hinted at signing a vet PF. Assuming that who are the guards most suited to the Rox that are predicted to be near where the Rockets are going to draft?

Sorry to question your statement, but I was just wondering how JVG hinted at signng a vet PF. Was it in a press conference? Radio? I haven't heard that yet. Thanks hooroo.

Is James Thomas considered a vet yet? I like his game for the Rockets when Yao is in the game. He is a good rebounder and can slide over to help on defense for a couple minutes each game. He has always worked hard to improve his game when he was at Texas. Unfortunately for him he had a poor senior year due to ailments. I think he can make it at the NBA level if he finds the team that is the right fit.

If the Rockets are interested in James they should wait to sign him until they have all there other pieces they want in place. No sense in reducing your flexibility.

Warrick will not drop to 24, but if he did the Rockets would be insane not to grab him.

I believe someone slamed me a month ago and said he would not be a first round pick (sweeping statements often turn out to be false), but I still believe that Julius Hodge will be the steal of the draft. If Jack falls to us, or Simien is still on the board, this will be a tough call, but I love Hodge. Espn has him going to the Grizz at 17, but that might be a bit too early for him. There's a good chance he could be there when we pick. He's exactly what we need. Athletic, quick, and capable of playing 3 positions (PG being his NBA position). Stay away from underachievers (Taft, Villenueva, etc.). Go for heart (Simien, Hodge, Jack). I'd be happy with any of the three here.

I do too, but I think the power forwards on the market are a LOT better than the guards. In an ideal situation, I'd love to see the Rockets sign Donyell Marshall(he's a perfect fit...but is 31) and draft Jarret Jack. I'd be wearing a huge grin if that played out.

I played with Jarrett Jack and saw him do some incredible stuff my senior year of college...He pretty much carried GATech to the NCAA championship game..His game is very similar to Sam Cassells...He has a lot of potential.

Jarret Jack's stats look like steve francis's nba stats. scoring, turnovers, etc. but sounds more promising as a distributor.
