hold up - you're the one taking your own post of out context, rearranging snippets - here's EXACTLY what you said: "I want to see the rest of the team with a different QB and see if/how it looks different. We got one half of that this year (under obviously unique circumstances) and it looked so ridiculously different." and thus, my response remains: no, it didn't look "so ridiculously different." it looked the same - scratch that, it actually looked better when carr enjoyed those same "unique circumstances." i know your point is that you want a new QB; and that's fine. but if it has anything to do with garbage time performance, then you're wrong.
I respect your opinion on this, Ric. In all honesty though take a peek at the upcoming 2007 season and tell me that there isnt five games there with Carr's ability to choke up written all over it? That's all I'm saying. The QB time and time again, makes or breaks the team. Wanna take a bet what effect Carr is having?
Too subjective and far too many wildly uncontrolled variables to effectively measure it. Not even to guess at it. Surely you see this. Other than to say, "They'll do better with a different QB," which even the stubbornest of us (myself) has come to understand.
My prediction... no more 610 Tuesday morning "Inside Skinny with Steve Mckinney". And thank goodness!!
Well msn if he had actually done anything and garnered any chemistry and respect with his teammates in the locker room, I may tend to agree with you that change just for change isnt a good idea. As a team we havent improved much but in terms of cosmetics. We look somewhat better but really we are still a very BAD football team outside of your Detroits, Oaklands we are still a bottom feeder team. IMO Kuby does the team a disservice not giving the team week after week a legitimate chance to compete and win. Carr has no confidence and some of the key veterans in the locker room have intonated as much their displeasure with Carr's inability to make plays as well as put the team in bad situations either with key turnovers as well as general ineffectiveness by the offense, forcing the D to work harder to hold down the fort. You disagree with this? If you are the braintrust in the war room and you know you have to play Baltimore, Cincy and San Diego on the road while Denver, NO and KC come a calling to Reliant next year, how much can you improve with a QB with a damaged psyche and with no confidence? With this schedule, we are going to need all the help we can get. Also msn he regressed this season from last year plus, the second half of the season outside of the Buffalo game, Carr did nothing! Yes, msn there are always multi-faceted variables to consider, but straight up I have a hard time believing that even half of these games with NFC South and outer divisional conference opponents can lay an egg. For one, for this team to win our running game has to be top notch so Carr is comfortable and plays like he has some ability whereas, if you get to him early, harass him and force him into mistakes, he will lose confidence and crack under pressure. IMO if Carr is QB next year and you clearly have a significant upgrade with the foes you have to face collectively, well say hello to another top 5 draft postion. That 6-10 record, try 3-13 or 4-12. Kuby knows that and despite McNair taking all the denial pills in the world, even HE has to know it! Even with AP or Lynch and significant upgrades on OL, DL and secondary, if Carr is our starting QB next year WE WILL GO NOWHERE! Bottom line, Carr deserves a second chance elsewhere and the franchise and us fans deserve a fresh start, a new wind to blow into H-Town. Sorry dude, I'm just reporting the news ...
A VERY much improved O line with Flanagan,Spencer(most likely),and Joe Thomas at tackle joining us. Winston's knee seems like it's doing well and he's progressing nicely. Now that we'll actually have an offensive line that little thing called the forward pass should work. Andre and Eric will be able to work normal routes and will do major damage. A healthy DD or a RB out of the draft should be able to handle the job in Denver South's offense. We have a defense that in the not so distant future should emerge into one of the NFL's best. Having a healthy Mario Williams all year will make a huge difference... double teams opening up chances for others to make plays....and probably 10 -15 sacks. Ryans and Robinson are stout. I'd like to see us pick up a cornerback with a 1st or second round pick. I Look for Travis Johnson to step up and have a big year....also Babin is improving. As far as Kubiak,he instills confidence....I believe he will become one of the best coaches in the NFL. 10 -6 and playoff bound.
Travis Johnson? Step up? Largely agree with your post here except for TJ. I like your optimism but TJ has been perhaps our biggest 1st round bust in our franchises short history. Babin did show signs of competing now that he is back where he belongs at DE. Yep, I said along Kuby will bring a new spirit to this franchise and we will turn it around. Would be something if he could be the NFL C.O.Y. next year. That condition probably requires a playoff berth. Hey, I'm not complaining. That being said yes, we should continue the improvement to respectability and perhaps, contention.
