You know what I mean. I wasn't saying he was a bad player, but when you compare him to Magic, Jordan, ect. he doesn't stand out.

And I like how you bold that statement, and its one paragraph before I go on a rant about how good Hakeem has been to the Rockets.

Well it's not even close, Dream was so much better than Yao is. This is no knock on Yao it just is unfair to compare him to Dream.

T-mac has a chance to reach Dream status if we win 2 or more titles, the only way Yao reaches it is if the Rockets win now with Tracy and then again with Yao and someone else.

I voted for Hakeem based purely on performances on the court. But if you factored in Yao's influence on the Rockets off the court, then he will become the "best" by far if he manages to win a ring or two.

If Chuck Hayes, Rafer, and Battier can get shoe deals in China... That in itself speaks volumes about how Yao benefited the Rocket's franchise.

Skill wise Yao will never be as good as Hakeem. What if, yao brought houston more than 2 championships, do you guys consider yao is better than hakeem?

Hakeem by miles and miles. I love TMac but he doesn't have the "fire." Neither does Yao, or if he does, it burns very quietly. Hakeem, like M.J, Bird, etc. were assassins, their competive fires burned loudly. They wanted to destroy you, every night.

You saying we lost 2 seasons ago b/c Tracy didn't prove anything? I know he has the stigma of never getting out of the first round, but I don't think you can put that solely on his shoulders. He was the main reason it went to 7 games. You remember the media during that postseason? They were making comparisions to MJ. As blasphemous as that might sound to some, Tracy was playing his heart out.

So if anything, the whole team has something to prove, not JUST McGrady. Only thing he needs to prove is he can sustain that level of play throughout a playoff run.

But I know where you are coming from. All NBA fans will always consider TMac a failure if he never gets out of the first round, doesn't matter how good he actually plays. People see the end result. Let's hope he can silence the critics.

Will you be willing to kiss the Donkey if it is otherwise?
It is very difficult to compare the two as the rules have changed so much and they are so different in as much as Hakeem was fast and athletic while Yao is extra tall and a finesse player. Also Hakeem was a creative player but under JVG Yao hasn't been allowed to be a creative player.

We have to remember that Dream elevated his game to another level in his 30's. If Yao or Tmac can do that, they have a chance. That is a big if because I can't think of another superstar that got better after the age of 30 except for maybe Karla and Stockton.

What? He absolutley stands out among them. How quickly we forget how badass Dream was.

Remember what he did to David Robinson after he got the MVP trophy? That was one of the all time great smackdowns EVER - I have never had more fun watching someone get humiliated. :D

I did not voted the Dream. Why? Because I want the Rockets win the rings for this year and the next and the next and the next and.... year. I want them better than the Clutch City and the Clutch City II. Then our two superstars must be the best Rockets ever. And it can be Yao or TMac. I think Yao has a better potential to keep developing his games. So I voted Yao.

However, the Dream is still the Dream. The first time is the sweetest moment forever.

I'd argue that Tmac has no chance period. He's just going to be another Vernon Maxwell type of player (probably better, but you catch my drift). Hakeem set records as well as won titles. Yao has a shot as he is still in the early part of his carreer, but its HIGHLY unlikely if you ask me considering Dream had both defense and offense while Yao is only comparable to Dream on the offensive end.

even if Tracy and Yao win 2 rings with houston., I still give the nod to Hakeem becaue he put the rockets and the city of houston on the map, bringing us our first 2 major sports championships....the first is always the best...

I think I might have lost all faith in ClutchFans if Hakeem wasn't the winner of this poll.

I don't see how u can compare one player to another in a team sport. To me, there is no such thing as the "best" player in a team competition, there's only "best" team, which most will define by amount of rings won. It doesn't matter what stat one player put up, if his team can't win, its meaningless.

I really see this poll as "Will YaoMac bring houston 2 or more rings?"

I would like to be optimistic and hope houston does win atleast 2 ring with yao/mac, so i voted yao.
