9-3 if Simms has no more confidence
    10-2 if he does

We still have a chance at an at-large BCS spot that depends on us finishing 11-1. I would be surprised if we got invited to the Holiday Bowl 3 years in a row. We're either going Cotton (11-1,10-2) or Alamo (9-3).

I think 11-1. KState scares me but somehow I see us taking out our frustration on them. ISU at home, Neb, and Tech I see little problem. Baylor easy win, and the Aggies won't win in Austin. If we can beat the Wildcats this week, we can still get into the NC mix as you have Miami or Va Tech, but then who knows I don't see ND going undefeated or OSU, OU will lose a game with Hybl at qb, Georgia will fall somewhere.

I think we are still the 3rd or 4th best team in the nation right now and as long as we don't pack it in, we should be in the BCS mix again.

By the way-Davis either is a wuss or Simms is the issue(I vote for Davis, we had them on 2 deep balls early, and then never challenged them again, and I won't make excuses but the refs were horrible. For most of the game when a flag went down it was our direction, and OU got freaking lucky on that fumble for a touchdown by griffin that gave them the lead.

We had this game but some good OU breaks(and special teams before the half) and our stupid OC gave away a game we had in hand.

I used to think we'd do that eventually, but I think the mindset that Brown and Davis have installed is such that we'll never take anything out on anybody.

The notions of "revenge" and "payback" are incompatible with "takling what the defense gives us" and having "a good year even if we lose Saturday". We have a nutless, gutless coaching staff. They'll spend this week soothing our players' hurt feelings, pampering them and working on new ways to confuse defenses that aren't playing close enough attention to nuance to get confused.

And we'll lose badly, again. I think 37-17 sounds about right.

sadly i think the latter may be more of a possibility.

especially since Notre Dame looks like its gonna get one of the at-large BCS spots this year.

Yeah man that vanilla offense in the first 5 games looked pretty similar to the "OU game offense".

The same crap toss to Benson was hilarious.

Smokey, I wonder if that was Davis thinking, "Well, let's see... OU keeps calling the same play over and over, and it works... MAYBE WE CAN DO IT!"

    BK,

Here's why I think its on Davis: in this weekend's game we come out and burn them on two deep routes-the 2nd was a very impressive pick by woolfolk. Yet, we never ever went back deep downfield, except once, the rest of the game.

Davis took the game right out of Simms hands. His numbers may have been 1 td 2 int's at half, but he was very much in rhythmn and playing solid. And it's not easy when the defense knows what's coming: run, run, pass, run run pass, etc.

At the beginning I thought Davis had changed, but as the game went on I realized I was wrong. When it was 14-3 with Hybl at qb I thought we had it, then as I was going to get a drink I hear the kickoff return. But still they may not have scored had we not gone offsides on 4th down.

The defensive secondary did great, our D line except for the end-tired and beginning-no explanation, they did solid.

I want to keep Brown however if I'm AD I say either Davis goes or you go. For a team with our talent, and I'll bet money Simms can do well as a pro, we sure as **** don't use it.

I'll predict 9-3. I think our defense will do everything in its power to beat K-State this week, and we end up winning. Then we beat Iowa St. and are ranked top 5 again. With 2 big wins we've got another shot at the NC going into Nebraska. We lose this game. We beat Baylor and Tech, and then finish the roller coaster ride with a loss to A&M at home, saving R.C.

    A couple other observations/questions

1)I would consider letting S. Young return punts full-time in big games in which he's a non-factor on offense. In the 2nd half, Vasher seemed winded when lining up to return. I think special teams field position was more of a difference than Simms play yesterday.

2)A team thats hasn't been mentioned in the NC picture is N.C. State. Granted they've had a weak schedule so far with a close win over TTech, I think if they can run out they've got a shot. Their remaining schedule includes decent teams(UVA,GaTech,Clemson), and they finish the season at home against a potentially highly ranked FSU.

Anybody think NC State has a chance at the Natl. Champ. game, or at least a BCS bid?

This is EXACTLY what I was thinking.

By the time I realized we were going to lose, I started thinking that we may bounce back and let this game serve as a building block. They well let this serve as a reminder that we lost a winnable game for the rest of this season and for the next time we face OU. But, then I realized that I thought the same thing after the big loss last season.

Something needs to be changed. I don't think that benching Simms is it, either. Mack is an amazing recruiter(With the class he brought in this offseason, we are a preseason top 10 team for at least the next 3 years), but I, like everyone else, know that he just hasn't been able to get it done when it counts.

No prediction, because I have no idea how the rest of the season will play out.

10-2, with the second loss to Nebraska.

I know everyone is disrespecting them right now, but they are still a very difficult team to beat in Lincoln. I think we'll do fine offensively, even with Greg Davis, but the way our defensive front seven got physically manhandled worries me against a power running team.

I do think we can win out and contend for the title, but if the team is taking the approach that this board is taking, I don't know. Our offense does need to improve, but someone needs to challenge our front seven. It seems like too many people are overlooking that.
