Another way to think about this is, who do other teams value the most of the seven? When the right star becomes available, I don't think anyone should be off the table. I'd imagine Sengun has the highest value at the moment. Jalen is a near-negative trade value at this point. I suspect the rest are pretty close, with Amen and Reed at the top.

The thing that people never seem to factor in in these discussions is also that we don't have to pay everybody a max contract to keep them. You only have to pay those who perform at max level the big money. So far Sengun's probably earned it, if Jalen plays like March Jalen he's definitely at that level too. Jabari or Tari though? No way. That doesn't mean we can't sign them to role player contracts though. Same goes for Cam or Amen if he doesn't develop a shot. We could very easily keep all of them, or several of them on different tiered contracts.

Third Star (#1, #2, or #3 option) added by way of :
    A) Trade Deadline [ 24/25 season ]
    or
    B) Free Agency (if none bite, then adding a couple of free agent accessory parts) [ summer '25 ]

    then

Jalen Green signs extension [ summer '25 ]

    Sengun signs extension [ summer '25 ]

    --------------

Jabari (not offered max & signs elsewhere....Thon Maker is an option to be signed for less)

Tari Eason (re-signed to moderate, less than max money)

    ---------------
*management decides and determines Sengun is expendable because his prototype does not
secure championships (plural) vs the prototypes of Amen and Cam Whitmore do win
    championships (plural).

Sengun traded as a sacrifice to pay both Amen and Cam

*Amen Thompson (signs extension slightly less than max)

*Cam Whitmore (signs an extension slightly less than max)

*expecting star added two years prior, contract coming off the books

    -----------------

Reed Sheppard (finally not a complete liability on defense, but unfortunately
there is no money for an extension)

At this point, I think the league is in a transitional phase, where many Superstar players are aging out of that.

Lebron, KD, Steph, Harden, Kawhi, George etc.

There are a few new ones, but so far, not many to trade for.....

    Luka, Giannas, SGA, Jokic

And a bunch of up and comers, which we also have on our roster....so we may not have an opportunity to trade for one considering age/prime.

I do think Cam is underrated keeper because of his low cap hold

This is true but one thing that sucks about this is that usually there is a really bad team with an inept front office that will overpay the guy you want to keep. Good teams regularly make fair offers (below max) to their roleplayers, but some stupid team offers them like 25% more than they're worth and they usually end up taking it, as they should. I expect us to lose out on keeping some of our guys in this way. Bari and Tari are prime candidates.

Jalen is the first candidate for this....if the Rox don't think he is a max player, someone will give it to him because they get him without a trade.

Then let them do it. We have the rights to match anything that comes across, but I wouldn't be stressing about the role player tier players. It'd be more of a travesty if we let one of the players with max potential slip in order to retain the roleplay tier players if that player then went and blew up elsewhere.

So you think the Rockets are going to let him go for nothing?

They tried to move him last season and no one was interested, will the Rockets have anyone interested this time around?

I think they tried to trade Sengun and N.O didn't want him.

Just like @deb4rockets said, NONE of our players are the best at their positions

Not only that stars determine where they want to go. The Rockets aren’t getting Giannis unless he says he wants to come here.

I think the Rockets are in a quandary at this point. They need to hope their players get better but if they don't who would you trade and vice versa?

Giannas, Steph, Dame, LeBron, KD, etc are all old. Wemby, SGA, Luka isn't going anywhere. And are Booker, Edwards, Zion, etc all that better than what you have?

He wasn’t ever on the market. Teams were asking about him and the Rockets said no

He was on the market last yr. when the Rockets were targeting Brook Lopez. They were targeting Zion
