I hope whatever he does just translates to wins. If Ariza can just do everything Ron did minus the poor shot selection I think were going to be good.

15/6/3 with 2SPG with around 35% from 3 and 48% from the field.

While averaging 40+ minutes in his last 3 playoff games against the magic, he average 15, 7, and 2. I think he will get 35 minutes while in Houston, so I am predicting 14, 6, and 3.

Yep this is EXACTLY what I believe will happen. A perfect mirror of Anderson. Let's say this is the line we get for the next 5 years. Worth it? It's about what we get from Battier for the same price. As it has been mentioned before Battier has some of the worst stats for a starter.

Really though I doubt we signed Ariza for his offense, he has a contract similiar to Battier and we expect him to put up at least 10ppg and be our future lockdown defender and learn from the best to become that.

You really can't sum up a player's contributions by just looking at ppg, rpg, apg, and spg. He might get certain numbers but be a bad investment because he doesn't play defense well, or he doesn't score his points efficiently, or he turns it over too often when he puts the ball on the floor. Or maybe he becomes an All-Defense type player, he gives us 12-13 ppg on very high efficiency, he's a dynamo in transition, and he rarely turns it over. That would make him a bargain at MLE.

In one sense, that is true.

At the same time, you could argue that he will get more touches because of the lack of a beast.

His percentages/turnovers are likely take a hit while his total production increases. Playing on an average to below average team that has no star players on the court can lead to the inflation of some stats because role player types are almost forced to get more involved in the game. There will be no Kobe or Artest or Yao demanding the ball on most possessions. Several players will likely be contributing on a nightly basis with no clear cut alpha male.

As long as the kid can stay healthy (fingers crossed) he should be averaging as a starter

    10ppg, 5rpg, 5apg

I was just talking to my brother-in-law about this. If Ariza is going to take as many shots as Artest did(No TMac and Yao out there will be even more shots) there is no reason not to think that he can't avg. 15-17ppg.<p>16ppg 6rpg 3apg 2spg

I know most of the clips of Trevor Ariza shooting is him waiting around the 3pt line and shooting 3s, like Battier, or him finishing at the basket. But if he wants to improve his game like he said he did, then I could see him creating his own offense in the line up. Many people forget that although he's been in the league for 5 years, he's never been a permanent starter till halfway this season with the Lakers (ironically it was a game against the Rockets where he got his first start). He's also never been one of the top options on a team before. Maybe I'm being optimistic here, but I could see him averaging at least 16 ppg, 5 rpg, 4 apg, and 2 spg.

He can get wide open shots off a pick, I could see him doing this with Scola or Hayes.

Rare glimpse of him, creating his own offense.

He's also good clutch shooter. Then again the main focus of the other team is Kobe.

I agree. Do you think Morey will take something positive out of what is going to be a tough season by getting players like Scola, Brooks, Landry, Battier to get better stats and therefore get there value up? I could imagine Scola going 20/10 for the season and Morey trading him after.

I think Morey always wants players to improve their performance and value, regardless of what he plans to do with them.

If he starts, he will be somewhere in the 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists range.

    12 pts 4.5 rebs 2 assists 2 steals

he'll get most of his points by cutting to the hoop or slashing to the basket.
