What? Lebron isn't really in the race.

    It's Westbrook, Harden and Curry.

I REALLY hope you are right!!

But they like to award it a season late to a newcomer. So Harden/ Curry might win it next season if they do 'ok', Westbrook will win it this season because he has been good for a couple of years...

It's total crap, but it seems to be what they do

    Really?

The national broadcasters all make a case for Lebron whenever they can. To be fair he is 26ppg 7.4apg and 5.7 rpg (on 50% shooting).
Cavs were 1-7 without him (I think?), and are 42-19 with him. Their overall record has them number 2 in the East, and Lebron himself has said the MVP race is driving him.

Personally I think playing in the East should almost be a disqualifier! How can you win MVP when playing in a conference where multiple teams 6 games under .500 are currently in the playoffs??? It just shouldn't count.

But you know who the NBA loves

Actually, ever since he opened his mouth and said, "Hey, wait, look at me!" everybody in the national media has wet themselves over including him in the race.

I still don't understand how a team that might possibly not make the playoffs has a top contender in the MVP race. Yes Westbrook's play in 2015 is one of the all-time greatest, but Harden's criticism earlier in the season was that the Rockets weren't a top 3 team.

There was even a post in CF showing the history of MVP winners and how only 2 of them in the past30 years was from a team below a top 3 record. Even then, they were still top 4 teams.

No way they're winning Friday. Gonna be resting all their starters so the Pellies can get a victory.

Really? Who has him over any of the top 3 candidates? Please. I'm very curious.

There is a reason the Warriors have the best team in the league. They have players on the bench that have brought in their roles very well. This may very well be the last time they will have this group of players, but they have found a way to mix two dead eye shooters with an excellent cast of wing defenders...They have such a great home court advantage, and their bench feeds off the energy. No question Steph and Klay two young terrific players, but their success stems from their supporting cast who are put in a position to succeed!

Steph had a crappy game tonight, but his team found a way to pick up the slack. And the fact is once Steph finds the range on his shot during such a shooting game, the Warriors collectively start blowing teams out.

So they are 2-0, blowing out two good opponents at home without Thompson while Curry shot 8-28.

Curry was shooting poorly but had 23 assists.

The Warriors are clearly the best team in the league. Myself and many others have them #1 in our power rankings. Although, I do think they have weaknesses certain teams can exploit. I won't disclose those just yet, because I hope to take financial advantage of them once the playoffs start, but they do exist.

I know it's difficult for Rockets' fans to accept Golden State's ascendancy, because they were mediocre like Houston a few years ago...although they did win a playoff series. Instead of playing fantasy basketball with his team, GSW's GM was able to strike the right balance and, in just three years, has made the necessary moves and non-moves to vault his team into title contention. He brought in an entirely new coaching staff and role players that perfectly complimented the team's pre-existing talent. There were also moves he didn't make, such as trading David Lee, that ended up working out well for the Warriors.

Most people don't know who Bob Myers is, because he, afaik, doesn't have a twitter account and isn't constantly media whoring, but he is a leading candidate for executive of the year.

Maury and his fans can learn a lot from the Warriors' approach. I wonder if Warriors' fans worship Myers the same the Maury only fans blindly support the Rockets' GM. In the case of the former, it would be justified I suppose since GSW are legit title contenders. Not really justifiable in the case of the latter.

Warriors went from being 1st round fodder to best team in the league by a distance mainly by changing coaches. Removing a garbage coach for a fresh one with new ideas.

THis is exaclty what I wanted. My hope was for the clueless McHale to be booted as soon a we lost to Portland and Kerr hired. Instead Morey and his idiotic love for his puppet McHale not only takes us nowhere but makes a rival a contender.

    Preach on brother.

Morey may be a genius but he is an idiot when it comes to retaining McHale. I don't know how he can be so smart in other ways but so dumb in this way

so their core players having a breakout season has nothing to do with it. kerr gets all the credit for their young players hitting their strides at the right time together.

Well coach can put them in position to suceed and give them confidence with playing time. Harrison Barnes' regression after his explosion in the playoffs two years ago? I don't think it was his fault only. When Lee returned, he was immediately put into starting role. How come he has a "breakout season" now?

maybe you're expecting a bit after a rookie "breaks out" in a few playoff games. he's hitting his stride in his 3rd year after only playing 2 seasons at NC. sounds about right imo. it also helps that his peers around him are also doing it at the same time. Kerr does get some credit for GS success but it definitely can't be completely attributed to him. he inherited that team at a good time.
