IF, IF Schaub is healthy for the entire season, the Texans can win 9-10 games. But he has yet to show that. I'm predicting betwen 7-9 and 9-7 at best with Rex Grossman starting a few for an injured Schaub.
I don't think 11 is unreachable, barring injury, etc. Should crack the postseason and at least show up. Voted 11 (eternal optimist)... but could be anywhere from 9 to 11.
My heart says 10, but my brain tells me that we will be besieged by injuries (like every year) and go 8-8 yet again.
I could realistically see them going as high as 11-5, or as low as 7-9. I voted in the middle, at 9-7. Here's where I think the losses will come from: 2 to the Colts 1 @Jags 1 @Titans 1 to the Pats 1 @Cardinals 1 loss either @Dolphins or @Bengals Depending on what the Pats are playing for, the Texans could win that game at the end of the season, and they could conceivably win at home against the Colts and maybe sweep the Jags. I just don't see all of the above happening. I am guessing they will just miss out on the playoffs- I'd love to be proven wrong though.
who is the one person who voted the texans to win 4 games??? only if the team bus gets struck by lightning..haha
The person who voted 4 wins was real shady. Click on the number of votes and it will show who voted and which choice they made.
I had been pegging them at 10, but I'm awfully worried about both the O-line and D-line in rushing downs and the prospect of Rex or Orlovsky stepping in for Schaub. Assuming health and a good boost from Cushing and Robinson, split the division games 3-3 handle the Jets, Raiders, and 49ers at home (6-3) take 3/5 on the road among the Bengals, Cards, Bills, Rams, and Fins (9-5) take one of the two home games against the Pats, Seahawks (10-6) If the team plays above itself, takes care of every team they should beat, and wins a game or two it shouldn't (which real contenders do) - we've got 11 or 12 wins and a solid playoff berth. If Schaub misses a 4 game stretch, OR if the defense blows a couple of games, OR if the team doesn't show up a couple of times (all of which we've seen in the last few years).....it's an easy slide back to 8-8 or even 7-9. I'm really hoping to see this squad finally put it together and display some mettle. If they can't, I'd love to see the likes of Cower come in and take over. Evan
7-9, Division is too tough and they are not that good. Alot of the preseason Kool-aid in Houston right now. I look for them to come in fourth in the division. Titans Colts Jaguars Texans Kubiak gets fired and they can finally bring in a decent coach and start to make some noise next year. I honestly think Kubiaks bad in-game coaching will cost them 2 games this year. Would put them at 9-7 without Kube. Shaub is always hurt. At some point, they are gonna have to give up on that experiment and get a real quarterback. Still not sold on either of their lines either, and that is where it begins and ends in football. They are still a year or two away and this coach and GM are not getting them there.
Ah, if only there were a young quarterback with a 92.7 rating and outstanding leadership skills available...
I agree with T-man. I would love to see a 10 win season but 6 or seven is what expect. Kubiak is a descent coach, but there were to many times last season where he was just unprepaired.
The Texans will have a better record that last year. Sage Rosenfels robbed us of at least one game (against the Colts), so we should've been 9-7 with LAST YEAR'S team. This year's team is better, and the Titans/Colts are worse. I can't see use being 8-8 or worse. I also don't see the Texans in the playoffs, so I went with 9-7.
I don't understand all you people saying 6-10 or 7-9. Clearly you're just haters who are hating for the sake of hating. ANYBODY will agree that this team is the most talented one we've had in franchise history, and they play a weak schedule to boot. Now, LAST YEAR'S team went 8-8, and was completely robbed of a game by Rosencopter, so 9-7 is the watermark for this team. To say that this team is going to go 6-10 or 7-9 THIS year is preposterous. As long as everyone stays healthy, I would say 10-6 should be expected.
Fryeball, That is exactly the problem Shaub cannot stay healthy. The season has not even started and he is banged up. The weak schedule doesn't help the cause either because that is who Kube struggles with. They actually play decent against the good teams and find a way to lose to the Raiders and such year after year with Kube. That is why I say Kube will cost them 2 games this year. Believe it or not, you can objectively look at it and see 6 or 7 wins. One does not have to be a hater to not drink the Kool-aid. A hater would be someone picking them to win a game or two, not 7. Cat, QB rating's are great, but they mean nothing when you are always hurt not finishing games or even playing in them. Let's be realistic also, most of Houston was calling for Rosenfels to start over Shaub before that one meltdown.
Schaub played in all but one game when he wasn't hit on a viciously illegal play that drew one of the largest fines in the history of the NFL. What part of "that play was dirty and illegal" do you not understand? And umm, a lot of Houston, just like a lot sports fans, are complete idiots when it comes to truly understanding the game. Schaub had two bad games on the road against most likely the top two defenses in the NFL. What a miserable bum.
At least 10 wins. Dunta Robinson makes a huge impact now that he's healthy. Add the youthful terror of the edges in Cushing and Barwin and the D is ready.
So since he has been in Houston he has played in every game but 1, besides the other ones he missed you don't count? Are you serious? He has started 11 games each of the last 2 years, and did not finish all of those 22. Just on games started since he has been here he has played in 66%. Throw in the games he did not finish and that is horrible when trying to build your team around someone. He is banged up already in the preseason this year. Do you not see a pattern? That is the problem with facts, they are not debateable. So while you may be the only one in Houston who you thinks know football, you are just argueing your opinion against facts and not looking good while doing it. Maybe it is you that doesn't understand the game. There is much more to a football game than QB rating. What was Big Ben's QB rating tonight or last season? What was Collins? What was Eli Mannings? Those were the three best teams and I don't think QB rating had a lot to do with it as they were all lower than Shaub. They were all dependable and made plays when they had too. That is how you consistently win football games. You have to play in them. You can have your QB ratings and be happy with 8-8 seasons every year. I will take the guy who shows up every day and leads his team to the playoffs/Super bowls. At the end of the day, isn't that why you play the game?
