What is the link to the leader board? Can you go back and enter the winners from game 1?

The link to the leaderboard is http://www.ihaventdoneityet.net :D

I'm not sure I follow your second question... Do you mean capture everyone's guesses from the first game? I can, but it would be easier if you could send me a copy of your spreadsheet to do it. I'm still at work, so I can't do any serious work on it for about another 3-4 hours. Sorry!

Take a look at the first post, that's the contents of the spreadsheet. I'm only keeping track of names with points.

    OK, I'll take those details.

I'm going to go back through and capture everyone's guesses for the first game though. It might be interesting to do some things like total number of points that your guesses have differed by over the season, and how many results you have predicted correctly. Once it's all in the database, that's pretty simple.

If people want to stay included in it, they can put their own results in though... It's a lot of typing for me after every game otherwise :)

Have you been getting a lot of entries lately? How many people entered scores for the first game? What type of scoring system are you implementing for your leaderboard?

OK. I'll answer your questions one at a time.

    1. Hardly any.
    2. 4
    3. Your scoring system, but I was slightly confused about the whole "predicting a tie" thing.
      [/list=1]

I sent you a mail just now about your scoring system.

I guess people would rather that you did all the hard work collating the scores, and reading through all their scores that are posted.

I've got everyone's predictions from game 1 in my db, so I'll have a version of the leaderboard up this evening, and hopefully some personalised content when you go to the page (ie where you are ranked in the game).

I'm going to keep going with it, just as an exercise in coding my page, but it looks like you're stuck with keeping score...

Just got your email by the way. Now I get the idea!

Yeah, predicting a tie is a good strategy to get within 10 points and sneak away with 5 or 10 points sometimes. I think it will only take about 80 to 100 points to win this game if there is a lot of participation. Game to game their shouldn't be many repeat winners, so anyone who gets 6-7 games right or someone who gets 1-2 exactly right will be high in the standings. It's designed so someone can join midseason and still have a good chance to win, but people who play throughout the season can earn points here and there by getting one of the teams score right.

OK, there's a leaderboard page now at the link in my signature.

If you're one of the BBS members that has already nominated a result in this thread prior to this post, your details are entered into the database. You just need to log in with your BBS user name, and a blank password, which you can change after logging in.

If you didn't enter a guess in this thread already, then you need to register, if you want to be included automatically on the scoreboard. Try to use your BBS user name, so we know who is who.

I hope people like it, and use the system, because it'll save a lot of hassle for B totalling up the scores for another 81 (and more hopefully!) games.

The leaderboard looks great! I like two people checking on this since you found something I missed! I have an idea for a couple of things you could add to the leaderboard. You could keep track of the number of predictions the person has made, and the average number of points off per game.

Everyone else: Remember to get those picks in! There is a game Friday night and another one on Saturday night, and picks have to be made before the game! If you didn't pick the first game go ahead and make a pick this time. It's real easy to catch up in this game, unlike a lot of other games.
