I personally don't believe Boston will get the most TV appearances. I don't have the numbers to back me up, but judging by the style they play, Celtics' games probably had relatively low viewer ratings last season. I mean come on, they are more painful to watch than the Spurs. People want to watch Kobe, Lebron, Chris Paul, and now, TMAC+YAO+Artest baby!
National TV is all about rating. Houston is just not at the same level as LA or Boston. We do have an interesting team to watch this year. I think we will come in behind LA and Boston.
Do you not know how to read or are you just blind? There's a 4th option in the poll for '4th or lower.' In addition, I have no idea why you think it's unrealistic "because we never have." Last I checked, the Rockets were in the top 3 in Barkley's first year and McGrady's first year. It's no guarantee they will be top 3 this year, but it's not out of the realm of possibility at all. Your thinly veiled attempts at nonconformity masked under the guise of 'objectivity' are lame. Do everyone a favor and stick to making nonsensical threads in the Hangout that no one gives a rat's ass about.
To group everything else "fourth or lower" is ridiculous. It will probably be something around 6 or 7. It would be like if I said "Where does Yao Ming rank on the list of best basketball players ever?" and gave the choices "#1", "2-10" or "10 or below." You are leaving out any sort of detail to where he actually would fall. If the question was "Do you think the Rockets, with the Artest trade, will be in the top 3 of TV appearances?" Your poll would have made sense. Assuming the Rockets will be or will be close is unintelligent. Thank you for your input, though. Your opinion means a lot to me.
I originally thought this was meant as a joke, but if you seriously think the Rockets won't be in the top 7 in national television appearances, I have some ocean-front property which might be to your interest.
Yes, because the Rockets as a 55 win team in a 30 team league is a great analogy to Yao as merely an All-Star caliber player in the history of billion players of the NBA. Freaking brilliant. The spectrum isn't nearly as great, especially taking into context the Rockets' relative standing from last season. Oh, I'm sorry. Would that have distinguished it from the apparent query of "Do you think the Rockets, without the Artest trade, will be in top 3 of TV appearances?" You're the one that replied to me, genius.
This is such a sad perspective. Houston doesn't get any less attention than any other non major media market. There has been no indication in the past that the media will behave in an outwardly biased fashion against the Rockets in comparison to other non major markets. They won't be top 2, but there's a decent chance they'll be 3rd with this move. Seriously, is your self esteem that low?
The Rockets don't play the kind of basketball that gets national attention. They don't play in a market that get's national attention. I know they are better this year. I believe your poll is a little skewed to the home. Obviously you took offense to this. I apologize.
I predict that it will be 4 and below because we aren't a glamour name, but Artest will increase the ratings to some extent. We could move into the 3rd place if we start beating the big name teams regularly.
On a more serious note, I wouldn't be surprised if the Heat beat out the Rockets in national TV appearances. Wade (watch the olympics and you will see he is at 110%), Marion, and Beasley should be something to watch.
I don't buy this. They're not known as a "slow", boring team anymore, even though they still play like that. I have already accounted for the major markets being 1&2. I personally think LA&BOS will be 1&2 and the Hornets, Rockets, and Cavaliers are in the mix for 3rd, 4th, and 5th, maybe with some ties. I think we'll be in a tie for 4th highest. I hope Portland and Miami eat into the slots usually reserved for Detroit, Dallas, and PHX. I am looking forward to watching those two teams this year.
Well it will probably raise but I don't like when games are on for example NBA TV or something like that. ESPN or TNT is not that bad but I better like FSN Houston (it's on leauge pass)
Okay, but usually even if you believe something, giving a wide enough standard deviation for others to vote is a good choice. It's grouping everything other than 1,2,or 3 into "other." I really am done replying to this.
