We only have two players who can play the position of Point Guard:- Alston and Brooks--- Francis and James are quite inadequate at the position of Point Guard. Just look at last nights game for proof of this
James is fit for Adalmen. He is a another style PG different from Alston. Just Francis can not prove himself now.
You cant call a Player a Point Guard who plays a full game and has ZERO assists That type of player is a Shooting Guard, not a Point Guard. Even though they are playing him under the title of Point Guard, it doesn't mean he is one!
Morey will try to package some kind of trade to get rid of Novak, Reed, JLIII, and Sura's contract. 15 man roster: 1. Alston, James, Brooks 2. McGrady, Francis, Head 3. Battier, Wells, Snyder 4. Scola, Hayes, Landry 5. Yao, Dikembe, Butler The rookies Brooks and Landry should both see time in the D-leagues this year.
Agreed, who do you see in Adelman's 8/9 rotation? I'm thinking definitely: 1. Alston, James 2. McGrady 3. Battier, Wells 4. Scola, Hayes 5. Yao The 9th man in the rotation will be split between Stevie and Head. I hope that as the season wears on Steve has his head on straight, gets in shape, doesn't complain and lets his talent do the talking. I'm sure Adelman will get him more minutes, especially during the second game of back-to-backs.
I'd like to agree with you but I think that even if Adelman wants this kind of rotation, he'll have to use more. I think you're right that this will be the main rotation, but with teams tryin to get Yao and Scola in foul trouble we'll have to get some other bigs a few minutes here and there.
Has Morey made a real move yet? Assuming Battier was his "move"...what else has he done? * Draft Aaron Brooks? Nope...100% Adelman here. * Bring back make James to a city James wanted to live in all along from a team that would eventually throw in the towel before the first training camp of the '07-08 season...not exactly difficult. * Bring back Steve Francis to a city Francis calls home and to a city that used to call him "Franchise"....not exactly difficult considering POR is paying Steve $12m+ while the Rockets get him for vet minimum $. * Bring back Bonzi Wells who originally fell into the Rockets lap as he and his agent(s) botched the SAC re-signing and 2006 FA market. Not exactly difficult considering VG was fired and Adelman was hired. * Obtain Luis Scola from a team that wanted to but couldn't find an EC trade partner and didn't want to lose Scola for nothing if he re-signed in Europe. Not exactly difficult. * Spend $ to move up to forego Fazekas, Davis, McRoberts and McGuire for a slightly better offensive version of an under-sized PF they already had locked in. Not exactly difficult...maybe not even smart. I don't have a clue what Morey's next "move" will be. But I'm hoping he'll take major input from Adelman, CD, especially the scouts and try to have someone "steal" Rudy T's notes as he scouted the Rockets during the MEM game. For the rare few who haven't noticed...I'm relativley unimpressed.
Rox offseason needs: 1) Get potential starting PF. Check. 2) Add scoring to the bench. Check. 3) Replace JVG. Check. Outside of Boston, name a team that's had a better offseason than us with as few assets as we had. We didn't have a lotto pick, we kept our core intact, and we upgraded the talent level considerably. Morey has addressed all of our offseason needs without giving up anything. If you're not going to give Morey credit for taking advantage of other GM's stupidity, who deserves praise? Please, name me a better GM performance this offseason.
http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_7272889?nclick_check=1 Vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale said he might not be done making moves. If nothing else, the Wolves have to trim at least three players off the roster to meet NBA rules. How McHale will do that remains to be seen. Another trade remains a possibility, along with waiving players and/or buying out contracts. The deal gives the Wolves 18 players, and the regular-season roster limit is 15. McHale hinted that at least one of the players acquired in the trade will not be on the roster soon, but he wouldn't elaborate. Most likely scenario is simien is waived while still in Miami. Re-visiting the Doleac to Houston trade rumor during free agency... Doleac for Butler+Reed. Butler gives them a young center to go along with their other dev players with a team option for a second year. This gives them some security as they don't have any centers under contract for next season.
Just to clarify, the spurs lost Scola for nothing anyway. The genius is that we convinced them to give him to us instead of letting him stay with Tau. Good moves don't need to be difficult. Had we given up Battier or Head to get Scola, the trade would look a lot more "difficult" and a lot less appealing. Great GM's jump on easy opportunities. Is Jerry West legendary because he made things look hard? No! He's great because he doesn't let things fall through his fingers. When Kobe said he wanted to play in LA and pulled an Eli Manning on the hornets, West jumped on that. When CD was in desperate "win now" mode, West jumped on that to get a lottery pick. Easy? Yes, but an inactive GM like Kupchak forgoes moves like that. West, Buford, and Dumars all had their easy moves. You can look them all up. That's why they're great, because they made it look easy.
Wasn't it clarified over and over again that the Rox wanted Brandon Roy and if he wasn't there they were going to trade the pick? They didn't want Rudy Gay at all.
We've got way too many guards and not enough tall bigs that can play both PF and C. All we got are Deke who can only play C and Hayes, who's too short to guard taller post players, so if Scola or Yao get in foul trouble we're pretty thin.I predict that we'll deal either Head, Rafer or Steve to get a frontcourt guy later in the season.
Novak + Butler to CHA for O. Harrington (who gets cut) + 2 future 2nd's. CHA lost both a front court player (Mays) and a shooter (Morrison) for the year. Just an idea.
9 man rotation: 1. Alston, James 2. McGrady, Head 3. Battier, Wells 4. Scola, Hayes 5. Yao I think Francis will get time when TMac is not on the court. Especially when TMac is out with his back injury, Steve and Bonzi will be leaned on a lot more. Deke will see a little time relieving Yao, the last spot on the active roster will be a tough call. I think it will probably be Butler, leaving Snyder, Landry, and Brooks inactive to start the season.
How can you not be impressed with what Morey has done. Do you really think Fazekas, Davis, McRoberts or McGuire are sure fire studs. Landry has played really well so far this preseason and its not like any of those four are looking like Rookie of the Year and in some case probably not even rotation players. GMs always capitalize on other teams. Was CD a poor GM cuz he landed Tmac only after Tmac demanded out from Orlando. Whatever GM that lands Kobe, is only going to be able to do so cuz Kobe is demanding out of LA. SA definitely didnt want to send Scola to Houston. Not only did we land him, it was for a player who was not even going to be on our team this year. You have to give Morey credit for that. Overall, a GM is judged on his ability to address a team's weakness and not limit bad contracts. Yes, he had some favorable circumstances, but he addressed the PG need with James (contract is no worse then Juwan's), Francis (2 year deal at 3 million per), and Brooks (promising player on rookie deal). At PF he adds Scola (3 years at about 9 million) and Landry (drafted very early in round 2 but still limited salary).
