Eric Gordon is going to have a short career. That boy is banged up and Portland--God bless their fans---doesn't need anymore injury-plagued players.

Roy, Oden...my god. That was our Tmac/Yao pain that never went away, season after damn season...we would always wonder if Tmac or Yao would simply make it through the season. Our hopes would be up, and then suddenly one of the two gets season-ending surgery right before the fricken playoffs...and then we can't compete.

Portland wants none of that. We'd at least have to give them Omer. He's durable.

I think we are limited to the Room Exception (2.6m).

There seem to be some big names out there with nowhere to go.
This seems like a market where most teams are structuring around max or min deals.
The middle of the road players may be desperate to find a deal toward the end of Summer.
Maybe Morey can wait them out and pick up a cheap 1 year deal.

    Monta Ellis
    Brandon Jennings
    Kirilenko
    Ginobilli
    Pekovich
    + your PFs above
    ...

Speights on a cheap 1-yr deal would be a great addition to this team. The only thing is I'm not sure that's going to be possible - I know he's holding out in the hopes of securing a pretty nice-sized contract.

All of the core from last year is still on the team currently and that core led the team to the playoffs in its first year playing together. That is really promising. Now you have the addition of a superstar in Dwight and I think that will win at least 5-10 more games. I say just stand pat and let the team get more time to gel.

I actually agree with this. And who knows, maybe Casspi is a great addition for this club and picks up the slack left by Delfino and then some. I know it's wishful thinking, but Omri Casspi has game. Let's just hope it's a solid low-risk, medium-to-high reward signing.

I wouldn't move Asik unless the deal had something to do with Aldridge, or multiple quality pieces. I think Lin and Beverly are two NBA quality point guards with upside. How is that a bad situation? They both stay.

I say Terrence Jones fills out the starting 5 with D-Mo getting heavy burn. Asik gives us great back up 5, and his name is floated at the deadline, perhaps for a veteran leader with decent tread left on the tires.

I believe they are done with moves until training camp starts. Morey will probaly wait to see how Asik transpires, if he is sitting out games, no choice, but to trade- worst fear. I think it is a blessing we did not get JSmoove, I think Dwight and Josh may have too much fun time together that if there are pressures, they would not care about the game. Also a chance that JSmoove and Harden would not get along. One has to sacrifice a little, I don't think a vet like Josh would do that.

If we trade Lin back to New York, would they still have to deal with the 'poison pill year' on cap space, or would it still be divided equally?

My Rockets Idea? 3-team deal between the Rockets, Bucks, and Hawks. Rockets would send Lin to MLW and Asik to ATL. Jennings goes to ATL, Rockets receive Teague (S&T) and Ilyasova. With smaller parts also possibly being moved.

Rockets get a PG to replace Lin, and Ilyasova to play the 4. Atlanta pairs Asik with Horford and also get Jennings. MLW gets Lin for Jennings, and can get another asset from ATL as well.

Here it is on trade machine: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mnwn6eo …. The Bucks would need another piece (from ATL) though adding Pachulia as S&T could work.

I predict that nothing much will happen, may be a couple more FA vet min signings (O'neil/Dalembert/Wright/another wing/who knows?). but the chances of something happening at the trade deadline are always very high with Morey and that is when he might swing for that big name player but I doubt it.

Obviously morey is going to stockpile more assets and eventually add Lebran, Love and Stephen Curry.

IF...Detroit gets to talking to Boston about Rondo...then Lin could become a factor there. Say Lin to Boston along with Greg Monroe and a couple first rounders from Detroit to Boston. Rondo to Detroit. TJones to Indiana. And Danny Granger to Houston.

A variation on this theme would be all the same players except Indiana and Granger. Instead send TJones to Chicago for Luol Deng.

Deng and Granger are the perfect contracts for us. Expiring contracts on very good players. We can either flat-out re-sign them after next season, or sign-and-trade them along with other assets for our superstar upgrade at the 4...or trade away Omer for draft picks and sign a superstar outright with cap space.....or trade Granger/Deng at the trade deadline this year along with other assets if our superstar 4 is available.

The contract Deng or Granger gives Morey the ability to walk the line between operating above the cap or carving out space below the cap for an outright big free agent signing after this coming season. It is that threat of having the cap space to sign a guy away that causes teams to come to the table and deal if they think their guy is going to walk away.

We need to trade Lin and somebody else for Granger or Deng.
