Morey keeps our starting line-up as is going into the season. One of Terrence Jones or DMo actually shows a little bit of promise, but nothing that will make anyone outside of Clutchfans go crazy. With this sliver of promise, Morey strikes at the trade deadline, giving up one of our young PF's + Omer Asik for one of the following: LMA, Kevin Love, or (most likely) Paul Millsapp. I would love the first two, but they just are gonna be tough to pry away. Maybe Kevin Love if he pretends to be injured another year (broke hand doing a pushup yea right).

The thing about Dwight + Omer is, this is a REALLY GOOD IDEA in the regular season. You don't wanna mess with Dwight's back. You wanna coddle him Tim Duncan style in the regular season so that come playoff time he'll be ready to give 38+ minutes a night. So the way you do that is you give Asik TONS of run in the regular season. Then, at the allstar break it will become less crucial to have depth. In the playoffs, having Omer play 10-11 minutes a night is a total waste of his talent. Instead, even if we had Millsapp out there on the floor, that would be a huge upgrade in the playoffs.

I truly think Morey is gonna stand pat for the most part until the trade deadline this year. But what a trade deadline it will be.

I think he probably could've had JSmoove, but Dwight probably wanted to play with Asik. We got rid of White's contract. We are set at the C, and have traded almost every unwanted contract. Except 1. I think that's Lin. At $8 million, Morey can get more bang for the buck.

I think maybe we oughta think about something alongs the lines of Lin + Greg Smith + future pick(s) for __. Hopefully for a starting caliber PG.

I think if the cap comes in at the projected 58.5m

    1) We waive Anderson and Ohlbrect
    2) get Dwight to sign for about $150,000 less than full max to come in under the cap.
    3) Use the room exception (2.6) to bring in a guard or guard/forward.

    OR

Split the room exception to offer Canaan more than rookie min. and to re-sign players that cleared waivers (Anderson, Brooks?) or bring one of our eurostash over (Aldemir?)

    4) sign some quality Vet. Min. Players (T-Mac, Billups... etc.)

    Depth Chart:
    1) Lin, Beverley, Canaan, Brooks
    2) Harden, Garcia, Anderson
    3) Parsons, Garcia, Casspi
    4) Asik, Jones, D-Mo, G.Smith, Casspi, Aldemir
    5) Howard, Asik, G.Smith, Aldemir

In the Twin Towers starting line-up I'd have Howard at the 4 and Asik at the 5.

Originally I wanted Josh Smith. I'm much higher on him(especially as a 3rd/4th option) than most. And felt his defense would really help out Dwight and the team But with most of the FAs off the board now, and our entire roster more or less filled out with Garcia and Casspi, I hope Morey signs someone with the room exception and call it a summer. Go into the season with Asik as purely backup and see what DMo/Jones has done over the summer.

As others have mentioned, I expect Morey to do damage at the trade deadline. Taking advantage of some underachieving team trying to tank into the Wiggins sweepstakes.

LMA and Keven Love is too expensive. I don't think this team can afford to add another star by shredding salary of others and depleting of effectiveness of the team's other positions.

Yep. Cross your fingers that Portland really struggles, to the point that they go into rebuilding mod post all star break. Then backup the truck minus Harden, Howard and Parsons.

Asik + DMo/Jones for Horford would do it for me.

Why do I get the feeling Morey's going to wait till after Summer League and let TJones beast it up to raise his value, and then package him with Asik and/or Lin for something good.

Since 2/3 of the teams are trying to tank for Wiggins, there will be no trade as our assets are too good for them.

No GM is going to be fooled by a player putting up big Summer League numbers, they will need to see at least half a season of NBA games.

We need another player that doesn't need to dominate the ball to be successful. Ideally, we need a 4 that can shoot an open jumper and grab a couple of rebounds. (Luis Scola? :()

I feel like Morey should have tried for David West, but he got Dwight, which is the best possible acquisition for our needs. Ryan Anderson makes so much money...I don't know if he deserves it all for as many 3s as he takes. Not may favorite type of forward.

Jermaine O'Neal would be solid if we trade Omer. I've liked his game before and after his injuries. What's good about him is his ability to understand his new role. He gets it. He's not the Indiana Pacers Jermaine that could give you 20/10 without a problem.

A player that would do great with us is Drew Gooden. He's flown off the radar in Milwaukee, but he can flat out shoot, drive, rebound and defend. Skiles let him rot on the bench. He would be a great ""Morey-esque" move. Also, Lindsey Hunter's incompetence left Shannon Brown on the bench in PHX. The guy's athleticism and shot are overlooked. I don't know his contract situation, but he wants out of PHX, and he' already a better guard than all of ours. Let's be honest. JLin is still developing. Shannon has proven, even in big games, that he is a true, fearless PG.

A few posters mentioned Boozer. I actually like the idea. He is an efficient pick and pop player that we haven't had since our homie Scola was given up. He's a bit expensive, but if he's amnestied, we are in win-now mode, so it seems.

All in all, I'd like Jermaine O'Neal to be a Rocket, followed by Shannon Brown JO fits a need, has new-found health, and still shows glimpses of his former self. His post-game is very underrated, even to this day, as is his defense.

    Dwight needs to recruit him.

Love that 'Cisco is back. (I told you guys you would love him after the trade...check my posting history. He is a STEAL for his price, shot and leadership)

We need one more shooter (Cassippi cannot be it) and another big in case Omer will not accept his role.

Looking at our roster and all the assets we still have, I'm skeptical that Morey makes any more moves now in anticipation of being able to trade his chips in for LMA or Love; both of which look like they'll be on the table by All-Star break as others have said.

Of course this is contingent on the situation with Asik and whether it remains tenable.

I'm not sure if I'm happy with LMA or Love as a 3rd max player though; both are mediocre defensively at best and does LMA fit with Dwight given that both are better suited playing in the low block? Sure LMA can play in the high-post as well but is he a good investment at maximum salary if he's going to see limited possessions and have a marginalised role akin to Bosh? Like-wise for Love, I'm not sure if I'm happy trading in all our youngins for Love if he's just going to be a third banana.

I would be happy with Ryan Anderson as a starting PF as the only asset that needs to be swapped is a disgrunted Asik and we could expect a pick as well out of the trade, then we just expect that one of Jones or D-Mo steps up into a capable back-up PF role which isn't such an ambitious ask. Then sign Chris Anderson or Jermaine O'Neal to be a back-up C. That's a championship caliber roster right there.

I'm fine standing pat. But, we do have a glaring problem at the 4 spot. I don't see us being successful having Omer at the 4 and Dwight at the 5. The quicker forwards that can shoot will have an easy time out-hustling Omer, not because he's lazy, but he's not that fast.

I am probably the least enthusiastic about Dmo. PatPat should have been the guy to stay. I don't understand the DMo hype whatsoever. I see a tall guy that is very raw with his back to the basket and an inconsistent jumper. I also see a guy with an unwarranted ego and questionable shot selection...those threes were ridiculous at times...not even close.

Greg Smith is learning, but I don't see him as a starter yet. Next to Dwight, you need a forward that can shoot a jumper out from the double team.

I wonder if McHale will explore Chandler starting as a 4, but guarding the opposing team's best player.

We really need Luis Scola back. :( We'd be set.

This is my wish for but kinda possible scenario...

I'll just be optimistic and call it a prediction.

New Orleans receives: Asik, TJones, rights to Lull, future 1st from Hou

Portland receives: Eric Gordon, future 1st from Hou

    Houston receives: LaMarcus Aldridge

Seems possible and fair to me.
