23-0 to start the season, 24-0 to end the season. Rox can go 17-18 in between. And still ended with 64-18.
24+ 1/9/09~3/3/09 During the time, home court against good teams. away against weak teams. Then again, if Ron Ron can take some salt out of the Salt Lake as he promised, the winning steak will continue.
I've been playing NBA 2K9 in association mode as the Rockets with injuries disabled. I feel comfortable in saying we have a pretty soft schedule about 20 games where we can reel of 10 wins or so. I can't believe some of you are saying 15+, those are HISTORIC runs. It takes a perfect storm for something like that to happen (like last year). Our franchise record before that 22 was something really low (less than 15 i think?). Certainly we won't be getting #2 or #1 longest streak this season.
I don't want a winning streak longer than 10-12 b/c after that teams play you very hard and the rox get prideful and play much harder than necessary for a regular season game and you know, injuries could occur as a result. The only winning streaks that matter, and for which the rox should go full on out to protect is in the postseason.
I went through our wins/losses since the 84-85 season, and found the following: Code: season longest win streak total wins 84-85 8 48 85-86 7 51 86-87 5 42 87-88 4 46 88-89 6 45 89-90 6 41 90-91 13 52 91-92 4 42 92-93 15 55 93-94 15 58 94-95 9 47 95-96 7 48 96-97 9 57 97-98 9 41 98-99 9 31 99-00 6 34 00-01 4 45 01-02 3 28 02-03 5 43 03-04 5 45 04-05 8 51 05-06 5 34 06-07 5 52 07-08 22 55 08-09 ? ? Might be useful for perspective. Before last season, we hadn't won 10 in a row since our first championship season.
I think it will be around 12 without looking at schedule. Here's to hoping for a decent regular season and a 16 game winning streak in the playoffs .
