I wouldn't be shocked if Dallas only wins 2 or 3 more games the rest of the way. Denver and Sacramento have beat them this season already and that's with Dallas healthy.
We're not in a bad position. They are 1 ahead of my predictions and Jazz are on point, while Memphis has already lost more and will continue to lose hopefully and the Mavericks might lose more as well. What worries me the most though is our own play.
Have we won 5 games in a row all season? Maybe once? We're not winning our last 5 games in a row. People tell themselves "they are must-win games, the rockets will step up because they need to". NO. We aren't good enough and our players aren't disciplined enough to turn it on just like that.
here's how I see it, admittedly the worst-case scenario, but one which at this point would not surprise me in the least. I can tell you straight up I don't see ANY WAY the Rockets end up 43-39, I think that's a pipe dream.
Someone would have to absolutely play out of their minds to get us that record. Harden, Beasley, whoever would have to play astronomically to get 4 or 5 more wins. Problem is they would probably end up getting injured carrying Dwight just like Kobe did with the Lakers.
Turn it on like what? There isn't much at all to "turn on." Wolves Suns Lakers. The 3 worst teams in the West. By far. The 3 worst teams in the entire NBA outside of Philly and Brooklyn. By far. 3 teams with a combined winning percentage of .267. Then you have Dallas who has gone 3-7, .300 in their last 10 and just lost their 2nd best player, arguably best player in Parsons for the year. Then you got the hot mess called the Kings who are 2-8, .200 in their last 10, and their best player Cousins just mentally imploded with the coach. Yes, I hold onto hope that capping our season with a 5 game winning streak is realistic, even with this team. And to answer the question, yes. We have won 5 games in a row this season: @Utah Utah Indiana @Memphis Minnesota
Yeah I said maybe once cuz I do recall a streak of wins but was too lazy to confirm. Yeah you can look at the teams individually and say Rockets are better than these teams, but you have to look at the big picture and say can the Rockets show up for 5 straight games and not have a stinker? You haven't seen that happen all that much this season. 3 worst teams outside of Brooklyn and Philly?? Guess what... We struggled against Philly and got swept by Brooklyn. We lost to Dallas without their top 2 or 3 players this season. Parsons' injury doesn't doom Mavs' playoff chances. Utah beat Cleveland without Hayward. Look. Our players are not professionals right now. They haven't been all season. Some people on this forum want to think we're improving but we're definitely not. We started the season as a .500 team and we're still playing like a .500 team. The playoffs are not likely considering the way we're carrying ourselves, and anything better than 8th seed is looking near impossible.
Blazers are the "best" of the bunch(6-9); Dallas looks to be on the outside in; Houston & Utah battling for 7 and 8. Blazers: 38-36; 5-5 in their last 10; idle vs. Sacramento vs. Boston vs. Miami @ Golden State(B2B) @ Sacramento vs. Oklahoma City(B2B) vs. Minnesota vs. Denver Jazz: 36-37; 7-3 in last 10; idle vs. LA Lakers vs. Golden State vs. Minnesota @ Phoenix vs. San Antonio vs. LA Clippers @ Denver vs. Dallas(B2B) @ LA Lakers Rockets: 36-38; 4-6 in last 10; lost to Indiana today @ Cleveland vs. Chicago vs. Oklahoma City @ Dallas vs. Phoenix(B2B) vs. LA Lakers @ Minnesota(B2B) vs. Sacramento Mavericks: 35-38; in a major free fall, 2-8 in last 10; blown out by Kings today @ Denver(B2B) vs. New York @ Detroit @ Minnesota vs. Houston vs. Memphis @ LA Clippers @ Utah(B2B) vs. San Antonio
Dallas' hard games are to end the season. That's advantageous because those teams could be resting guys. Houston still has a harder schedule than Dallas. If Dallas can just beat the teams they should beat they will finish higher than Houston.
still on a possible track for 38-44. Maybe MAYBE we beat out Dallas for the 8th spot, but I'm not so sure.
