I have no idea how they came up with that number, but that's a ridiculous notion.

Look at our schedule the rest of the month. Look at how we're playing. We are the worst from these guys.

Ironic that we are using analytics to determine our playoff chances

I predict the 7th seed with Warriors dropping to 2 seed.

We could go 0-9 and then 4-0, 41-41 at best.

    @okc, Utah, tor, @ind, @cle, chi, OKC, @dal

Safe to say if we lose all these games we're not making the playoffs. the way we've been playing these are all possible losses. Dallas has been really bad but they'll be at home and I watched them vs GS, they play a lot harder than us. Utah at home should be a win but the way we've been playing, who knows.

If we can win the Dallas and Utah game plus two more then we should be good.

We should all be praying Portland sweeps Dallas in this home and home. Otherwise we're in trouble.

boy, I don't know. OKC in their house, prob not. Utah the next night, I don't know. Then the next five . . . and Dallas plays hard as you say. This is really not looking too good at the moment. Utah just won tonight and has two nights off until playing in Houston on Wed. Maybe we'll beat Indiana? maybe. Again we'll be in their house, so maybe not. Maybe we'll beat Chicago.

I think maybe this time the hole we've dug for ourselves may be just a bit too deep. For the first time, I'm seeing a scenario unfold where we don't make the playoffs at all. :(

Yeah I'm with you. I honestly think we're least likely to make it.
Some posters don't realize that we're actually playing much worse than the other teams.

To put it into perspective, we got trashed by the clippers on a second night of a back to back for them...at home. Memphis with all their injuries beat those clippers. New Orleans without Davis, Gordon, Ryan Andersen, Tyreke, and Norris Cole also just beat those clippers. We're really really bad.

I feel like that is true, especially with Utah. But with our last 4 games against very easy teams, missing the playoffs feels tough. Might end up 7th or 8th when it is all said and done.

Yup. And the Rockets wont go 14-2 either, I was just illustrating the difference of 6 games with 16 to go.

now with 12 games left for both teams, the Rockets are currently 5 behind.

Assuming the Grizzlies finish the season 3-9. 43-39

The Rockets would need to go 8-4 to tie. 43-9

Both teams won twice vs the others (first tie breaker) and the grizz currently have a one game advantage in conference record.

With that said, seeding from 6-9 is going to be crazy.

you know what, though? when we hit those last four games, which are against "very easy teams," I bet there's a good chance we lose two out of the four. Especially if we're under pressure of elimination. I think this team has shown an uncanny ability all season long of folding under pressure.

I predict they go 7-5 or 6-6. They just gelled when it was too late

8-4 is possible but I do not see many playoff teams doing 3-9.

Looking at the schedules the Rockets have the toughest one remaining. Dallas just needs to get through these next 2 games at Portland and at GS and they are golden. The Utah game is a must win.

I can't believe we're actually going to miss the playoffs. I mean I knew it would happen about a week or so ago but still.

A team with Harden and Howard couldn't win more games than a team with Dirk Nowitzki and Deron Williams or Gordon Hayward and Rudy

What a tough season for Houston fans. And I can't help but think how much this will affect us next year too seeing we look so bad for free agents we'd like to sign.

I'll predict the 9th spot in the west. Your 2015-16 Houston Rockets!

I'm betting the bank on any of Houston's opponents that pay out 1.8x or more; Starting tomorrow, where I feel Rockets will still be the favorites, though I have no idea why.

we're going to know a LOT more after tonight. Can the Rockets pull it together after a disappointing loss? that will tell us if they've got anything left in the tank. Or, alternatively, if "tank" is what we have to look forward to.

I'm sure y'all know, but I didn't see anyone mention this or factor this into the latest outlook....Chandler Parsons is out for the season AGAIN with knee surgery. I think we can stay ahead of the Mavericks.

If last night showed you anything, it showed you that Rockets can put up a good fight against a great team. We need to try our best to win out as much as possible and steal that 6th seed. I haven't dug deep in yet to see if it's still possible, but man....I think we could go deep in a series against OKC.
