    Some did some didn't. They were paid by taxes like NOWADAYS in most countries in the world.
    And the private doctors could become doctors of the rich.

    As for life expectancy you know that there was a ton of child deaths and then every man had to fight wars every once in a while?

    However there are many historical figures who lived well into their 80s and 90s like Sophocles and Platon.
    As long as you were lucky not to
    die in war
    die from a plague
    face a famine
    captured and be enslaved

    the usual BC life troubles.

    What do you need science for in treating cancer?

    You simply soak yourself in bleach for a few hours and just wash away the cancer? Poof! just like that, the cancer is gone.

    Did we agree about what? You were saying "it wasn't real." Were you saying it was fake medicine?

    And as for pay, did you read the last sentence. I don't come away thinking all made a lot of money. Sounds like they made the same as today, but also there was civil servant level pay for physicians, as well.

    (read more at my links too. I did. Don't just read ppl's cut and paste jobs, although you can trust me to be objective by reading most of it for ppl, before I post. But, make up your own mind about medicine in that era by reading more.)
