Prayers for Senator McCain (diagnosed with brain cancer)

I never cared for the man as a Senator but I hate that he died the way he did. My prayers go out to his family. I respect his service to the country as a member of the armed forces and cannot even begin to imagine what he went through as a POW. Although I voted for him for President it was only a vote against the other guy.

 

McCain had a very fascinating, full life. I hate that he spent the last year of his life battling this awful disease. When I was a kid I thought most people died of old age by just one night falling asleep and not waking up. I guess that's true in some cases but three of my four grandparents died fighting diseases. My grandfather died of a heart attack in his seventies and I guess that would be the way I want to go if those are my likely choices.

 

Great point. I always had the same feeling. Death was scary but mostly people, I assumed, just didn't wake up one morning (unless they fell off a cliff or got gunned down by a classmate or something). I've known a good number of people who've passed on now, and only one of them died quietly in his sleep, unexpectedly, smile on his face. Most of them died in hospitals wired up to all kinds of gross crap or in a disconcerting haze of strong medicines.

At some point, meh, who cares about Two Scoops being (what else) a petulant ogre at McCain's passing. Guy cannot deal, at all, with anyone who has ever criticized him. Kinda a problem when more than half a nation has criticized the dude.

But anyway, would rather hear how other people are reacting. There have been some pretty interesting articles out there about McCain's life, outlook, and makeup (I don't mean cosmetics).

 

Seemed like a nice man in some regards, especially to family and colleagues. Too bad he was so maniacally addicted to war and voted with Trump on 83% of his votes. Hopefully his replacement will be less of a war monger .

 

What's a beautiful service for a truly great American. I don't know if I've seen a better one.

I thought Presidents Bush and Obama both gave moving tributes to Senator McCain.

 

They should name a college football bowl game after John McCain.

 

...I really can't wait to see how this bunch treats the Donald once his term ends...

...can anybody imagine what it'll be like for the Donald to not get invited to things all other presidents get invited to...?

...but on the other hand...I can't imagine the Donald bothering with something like a presidential library...

...not before a presidential hotel or tower or golf course, anyway....
