That is the problem with the 2nd amendment (and a few aspects of the Constitution). When I have tried to discuss certain aspects of gun control with gun enthusiast, they like to claim it violates the rights of the 2nd amendment. They are fine with keeping it out of criminals and mentally ill peoples hands and take their 'rights' away. At what point do 'rights' stop. I trust a white collar felon long before I trust an irresponsible gun owner.
Ok, seriously, I support trump's efforts to get something done. Sen Murphy says at the last universal background check will get 60 votes. That's a good start. I also agree with trump's position that gun rights congressmen trying to connect concealed carry to this is a fail. trump's insistence on a bump stock ban as an executive order may not work since I suspect gun rights people will tie it up in courts for years.
Interesting see folks from the conservative side objecting to trump for a change... https://www.mediaite.com/tv/twitter...ntrol-meeting-republicans-absolutely-baffled/ And then there's this...
Trump will do a 180 on this tomorrow morning. He'd do it today, but it's 5:10 in D.C., so he's already in his jammies and it's cheeseburger fort time.
Probably... similar to DACA. But in case anyone missed it, here is Senator Feinstein present the case for an assault weapon legislation and trump's willingness to look at the bill. And then his directing Senator's Manchin and Toomey to add it to their bill.
trump's point... you can buy an AR-15 at 18 yrs old but have to wait until you are 21 to buy a pistol.
quite a bit of insight in this piece about the structure of the firearms industry https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/09/gun-makers-dont-block-gun-control-market-decentralized/
