This is a core difference. Equality of Opportunity is incompatible with DEI and totally compatible with Tyranny. DEI is Equity driven which demands results before Equality is even given a chance. It just changes the targets of discrimination rather than eliminating it.

 

You're confusing equality of opportunity with equality of outcomes.

DEI isn't about guaranteeing the same results for everyone—it's about addressing the barriers that prevent people from having an equal chance at success in the first place. Without equity, opportunity isn't really equal for everyone.

 

That is EXACTLY what DEI is about. They call it EQUITY rather than EQUALITY working on the assumption anything short of the desired result involves some inequality rather than differences in interest and abilities.

IF it were only about addressing REAL inequality rather than promoting an ism victimhood, there would be little disagreement.

If you need a tall guy. there is a job related bias toward tall guys and the groups that have a disproportionate number of tall guys. This is all we are saying. In other words, don't put a 5'2 SS cover detail person on a 6'4" assignment, even if the requirements of the job will skew the candidates away from groups who can't do the particular job.
