Marshall is my #1 guy for PF and we have a better chance at getting him compared to the other PFs.

Marshall has average more than 30 MPG in 6 seasons and in those years his averages are 14.8 PPG, 8.7 Rebs, 1.2 Blks. Marshall is the best rebounder, best outside shooter, 2nd best shot blocker of the PF we are looking at. And as a career roll player he won’t need “his shots” that could take away from Yao’s shots.

If we were to split time with Marshall & Howard we could probably get 20 Pts, 12 Rebs, 1 block out of the PF position.

Only one of those 6 teams won more than 35 games (Utah). 2 of them won fewer than 20 games. One of the things that has bothered me about Marshall's rebounding numbers is a lot of his better years on the boards have come for miserable rebounding teams, especially some of those Golden State teams that would average 50+ rebounds a game but still be outrebounded by 4 or 5 a game, because the pace of their games would be fast and a lot of bricks were put up. Somebody has to rebound for them, and I think this has inflated some of Marshall's numbers.

Maybe it's just the sleepy TMac like eyes, but I don't see Marshall as the type of guy who responds to JVG. Marshall just sort of does his thing- when everyone is miserable in Toronto, he just kept going out there, coming off the bench, and putting up 3 pointers. It may seem weird that I like Walker with his poor 3 point shooting, and not Marshall's good 3 point shooting, but I see a fundamental difference in Walker's ability to go inside. Marshall can't.

Another part to me is buying high vs. buying low. Walker/SAR are coming off ho-hum type years for them. Under ordinary circumstances, 28/29 year old PFs that are 18-9 types should not be available for anything near the MLE. Marshall on the other hand is coming off one of his better seasons percentage wise, and I don't know if he can reproduce it- his pretty sharp fall in shot blocking numbers tells me his athleticism is starting to fall off. If things don't work out, Walker or SAR at 5 mill is a lot easier to move than Marshall at 5 mill.

He is also young (24)--and could impove opon his weaknesses. I prefer the other four 1st (SAR, SS, AW, DM--probably that order), but Evans is a viable 5th option. He isn't just a good rebounder, he is a phenomenal rebounder, solid defender and qucker than he looks. I think Evans is a much better back-up forward than Bowen/Padget, he isn't as inept as Bowen offensively because he gets to the rim so much quicker off put backs or when doubled off of (e.g., 48% FG).

If we strike out the above 4 I'd consider making Seattle pay to keep him (3 years for 15.3 mil, 5.1 per year no raises, or whatever we can do to make the contract more painfull up front). Seattle has lots of guys higher on the priority list to pay 1st and want to cut salary (Allen, Radm, James, Daniels). They also are stocked with PFs.

Marshall might very well make the Rockets a better team next year than the alternatives--he might be the best fit right now, but acquiring SS, SAR and AW gets us in better shape 2-3-4 years down the line (Swift even more than that), and why I prefer them.

I'd be happy with DM in a full MLE. It will either be a 3 or 4 year one because
of the limits imposed with over 36 rule, I think a full 4 year MLE will be allowed because he turned 32 this may 18th.

Well with that logic we can throw our all of SARs stats (his teams always sucked) and Walkers while at Boston (Talk about run and chunk it up) ;)

I consider someone who goes out and does his job no matter the circumstances around him a real professional. This is a positive atribute not a negative one. And for Walker's inside ability, I would prefer Yao doing that. Another post up player is way down the list of priorities for our PF. Can you agree to that?

Marshall went from 39 MPG, 16.2 pts, 10.7 rebs, 1.6 blocks, 1.3 ast, 1.2 st, 1.4 to on 46.7% FG, 40.3 3P FG in Toronto in 2003/04 to 25.3 mpg, 11.5 pts, 6.6 rebs, 0.7 blks, 1.3 ast, 0.9 st, 0.7 to, on 44.3% fg and 41.6% 3p FG. I would say Marshall would be getting alot more if he were comming off last year numbers as opposed to this years. On a per 48 minute they are similar but actually doing it is better than projecting it.

In the end we need to get one of these guys and I hope JVG can make it work. But right now CD needs to get one and get one now before we are left high and dry.

    I dunno.

    3. What was he in Dallas? Above Dirk, Steve, Jamison, Finley?

I dont see the Great improvement Walker makes over Howard. Very Very similiar numbers and defensive effort from the two, for their careers.

    My PF list:
    1) SAR
    2) Marshall
    3) Evans
    4) Walker
    5) Swift.

None of these guys are that appealing. Only one of them other than Evans ranks in the top 50 in rebounds per 48 min (Walker at #50, Evans at #1). They aren't the perfect fit defensively. Evans would be great except he gives you absolutely nothing on offense and is merely decent on defense. He'll have to work on a jumpshot if he wants to be a starter. He'd be great coming off the bench, though.

Does anyone know what Troy Murphy is signed for? He'd actually be pretty fantastic for this team if we could pry him away from Golden State. They already have Ike Diogu and Chris Taft, after all.

Troy Murphy is one of the worst defending 4s in the league. He would compound Yao's foul troubles because Yao would be constantly having to swing over to defend his man.

Worst? C'mon, he can't be that much worse than SAR, Walker, or Evans. I know Juwan destoryed him, but I still like his style of play. He crashes the boards and hits three pointers. And he's consistent.

From reading various papers on the Warriors, their question mark for this offseason is Dunleavy, not Murphy. Murphy will be on the bubble next season because his 6yr/$58MM contract kicks in. We definitely don't want him. He is more of a flower forward than Motay.
