Nothing to be cocky. I don't think that the team even know the rankings. Do you believe that the team really care the rankings by media? say, in the team meeting this morning, guys gathered together and talked that "hey do ya know SI ranks us #1?"

why does everybody have to rain on the parade? OF COURSE they are meaningless and OF COURSE rick adelman doesn't give a hoot, but DAMN i didn't expect to see us above everybody this early. this is a sign of success, rejoice rockets fans!

Jesus, this is Rocket's heaven right about now. They are playing the best ball in years, this is why we watch! All you people can say is 'its worthless' when we get accolades, and its the end of the world if we lose. Let TMAC tell the reporters that it don't mean a thing to him and that the playoffs are what he's focused on. That's the job of a pro athlete, to be modest/realistic, but we fans have the liberty of patting ourselves on the back prematurely. Please exercise your right to be rowdy.

the right to be rowdy rabid fans should never be predicated on media endorsements. if you require public endorsements, guess you've been given the green light right to believe.

given the fluctuating nature of national appreciation, some fans won't be terribly impressed. fer me, the CNNSI rankings mean less than the dirt i wipe off my shoes. if its meaningful to you, by all means, believe.

I agree with these rankings... all except PHX, they aren't going to do anything.

I've said in some other posts, the only teams that I could see possibly beating us in a 7-game series are:

    1)LAL
    2)BOS
    3)SAS
    4)DET
    5)UTA

    see the rankings...

I still say rockets are going all the way this year, and I've been saying it all year.

Yet, it means enough for you to make the effort to check it out in GARM and make a post about how much it doesn't mean to you. Either you have too much time on your hands, or it matters enough for you to try and convince yourself (and us) that it doesn't mean anything to you. ;)

I have found that much like some of the posters here that players comments about how much they don't care about stuff like betray that they are indeed aware of it. Sure they try to not get caught up in it, but I bet they are generally aware of how they are perceived in the media vs. other teams. In fact, Shane's recent comments seem to indicate as much.

actually I would prefer flying "under" the radar. 11 people gave Miami first place votes in the sportsnation poll. :D
