they don't need someone to shoot the ball. We ALL KNOW KT LOVED to shoot the ball (he thought that the only way to pass the ball would be to swallow it first) The rockets need someone to rebound and play defense against big PFs. oh yeah, and the last time I checked, Kenny Thomas was out part of the year with nagging injuries AND he did NOT play on a playoff team
He will be too small to play PF in the west. He is not a legit PF for a championship caliber team although he is doing alright in the east.
Keep in mind, Kenny Thomas is tough enough to withstand attacks from dogs. This is the 'Carl Herrera' we were missing.
You cant argue with this: Ranks #9 in the NBA in Rebounds Per Game(10.1) Ranks #6 in the NBA in Offensive Rebounds(261.0) Ranks #4 in the NBA in Offensive Rebounds Per Game(3.5) Ranks #18 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds(489.0) Ranks #15 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds Per Game(6.6) Ranks #12 in the NBA in Total Rebounds(750.0) Kenny Thomas and Yao! 2003-04 Statistics PPG 17.5 RPG 9.00 APG 1.5 EFF + 20.57 Thats 10.1 + 9 = 19.1 RPG!!!!
True. He would certainly have done that. Again....and again...and again.... SALARY DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least Kenny Thomas got hurt PLAYING NBA Games or getting bit by dogs. He's not smoking or falling down in pick up games. He's got heart, which ALL OF YOU HERE FORGET helped the Rockets win championships. He's not this guy either!
I honestly want to hear the argument that explains the moral superiority of a dog bite over a pick up game injury.
Uhm, no. What helped the Rockets win championships, was SMARTS and heart. They even had a player that epotimized SMARTS and heart, "Hakeem Olajuwon".
As I last recall Hakeem didnt win anything without his teammates We were a LOTTERY TEAM, then drafted some dudes with HEART "BUSKET BOLL IS AH TIEM SPORT, I WOL LIKE TO TANK MY TEAMMATES" HEART:
All those guys were smart and had heart. Again, you prove me right. Both are required to win a championship.
The Rockets in the Championship days had different role players step up every game. As Chris Jent said 'you dont know who's night it'll be' I believe Kenny Thomas would have stepped up, demanded the ball and shot the ball over Karl Malone when we were missing all these jumpers. Plus KT would have helped on the boards no question. If he missed a shot, we have Yao to tip it in. Even if KT came off the Bench, we would have had the player to beat the Lakers. I'm 100% positive. Carl Herrera was undersized but he kept schooling Ewing when he was out there.
If KT missed a shot, it would've cost a lengthy turnover, seeing how long it took him too shoot it, and how Yao isn't such a good rebounder to just automatically count on him to 'tip it in'. And difference between Carl Herrera and KT, is that KT is a ball hog and at the worst times.
If Herrera didn't have a shoulder that would pop out at a moments notice he would have lasted longer. The guy was just like Elie that he was a scrappy player that played with heart and put so much out there as far as hustle and defense. He did what the team needed and didn't complain. But then again the sport has changed a bit since then and we have so many players that are playing for themselves to get contracts, endorsments and anything else that the championship doesn't seem to mean as much anymore.
