What do you think of the way our coaching staff has handled the PF position post trades?

  1. I like it. I believe it should be based on how well you play

All year McHale has desperately been trying to find someone that can hold down the PF spot. PPat and Morris were the best two when we had them. D-Mo and TRob have shown that they aren't ready yet. Is TJones the answer for more than one game? I guess we will find out soon enough. I don't have a problem with the way McHale has done it. Everyone is getting a chance and I think that's a good thing. I just want the Rockets to have an idea about who they need to keep by the end of the year. All these guys are just learning at this point.

I didn't think PPat was our answer either, but he was the most consistent out of the bevy of PFs on the roster. I think that's what the coaching staff is looking for at this stage is consistency and effort, night in and night out. So far, Smith and too a smaller degree, Jones have shown more effort and consistency than DMo or TRob.

But that's to be expected because of the nature of how we play PFs. Different skillsets will manifest themselves as either strengths or weaknesses based on how you play the PF position, such as difference between a stretch 4 who can play out on the wing vs a low-post type player who is better in the paint.
