I can't remember. Could Olynk play decent defense? If so, he might be a decent target for a vet bench role.
literally nobody wanted this dude…Hawks had him on the trade block for years, and this is finally what they got in return thank God the Rockets passed on him
Hi @Reeko If i recall correctly your objection was that he made too much money Now the Rockets are likely have to offer even more money to a probably equal or even not as good quality player. There's a reason why people are praising the Jazz for this bit of business its not because they're Mormon.
An analysis for a player can differ from one team to another. The article you cited says Collins is essentially Utah's free agent acquisition. We have $60M in cap space and using almost half of it to acquire Collins wouldn't have been my first option. We desperately need shooting and defense and I don't think Collins' strengths lie with either. Perhaps Utah feels that they aren't going to be competitive in this year's free agent pool and think Collins' overall game would be a good fit instead. Frankly, I think the analysis was a bit flawed. They say Collins was possibly misused and Vanderbilt had a higher number of possessions per 100 as a roll man in Utah than Collins did in Atlanta. But pre-trade Vanderbilt was playing a lot next to Markkanen and Olynyk who can both shoot. Collins will be starting next to Kessler and might face the same spacing issues that prevented him from being the primary PNR option in Atlanta next to Capela. I think Collins would have fit a lot better on a team like Indiana where their defensive big man can also shoot. Also, I think moving Markkanen to SF just because he played it in Cleveland is a bad idea. Long-term Markkanen is a 4.
Fair points. Utah is not an attractive FA market. Houston is but there's a good chance that the trainwreck of the last 3 years has done some damage. My guess is that there's a very good chance the Rockets options end up - guy on equal or worse value deal than Collins, who is probably not even as good or older - salary dump to get up to the floor In which case, like I said, the "turn your nose up at Collins and pretend like he smells like doodoo" because you're repping the "young core" or otherwise Process Braining just... looks like a bunch of **** of the walk strutting and gamboling. That's not what the internet is for.
