Of course it could happen but I;m not so sure. Maybe Kings would give up Artest or Bibby...and we could get one of them without giving up Tracy or Yao. I know guy like Bibby would really help us cause he's a perfect player. He can shoot but he can dish and drive.
There's no way we get both Artest and Bibby. I would much rather have Ron Artest. Bibby fills the bigger need, but I feel as if Artest is the better player (puts in work on both ends of the court),not to mention he comes at a cheaper price. Also I have a feeling that nabbing Artest makes keeping Bonzi much more of a possibility. Alston/Head/Lucas III McGrady/Wells Artest/Battier/Novak Hayes/Howard Yao/Deke/Jake We'd still have the MLE, LLE, vets minimum, the potential Howard-James swap, potential Francis buyout and return to Houston, Battier and Head for trade bait, to potentially get a 1 and 4.
We should get him if Bibby doesn't demand a huge contract. I love the way he play and he should fit perfectly in Coach Rick's system. I still remember those big shots after big shots that he knocked down for the Kings!
Man, how sad. I've always thought Bibby would make a GREAT addition to this team. I just didn't know how much his contract would pay him these last two years. I'd say you absolutely have to wait and see if you can work something out with Mikes James, Francis, or something else. I echo Clutch's comments that the Rockets would probably be better off putting that money somewhere else.
Almost the only way we can get bibby if: Battier, JHo, VSpan, Sura's Contract, Snyder, 26th PIck (I didn't add alston cuz there is no way in hell they want him) For Bibby/Artest (I am sure the Rockets wont give up Battier + any pieces that are even partially worth trading for ONLY bibby, thats why I threw in Artest) THE ONLY REASON this might (15-25% I'd say) to work out is: Kings trying to get rid of contracts and get young: VSpan is young cheap PG Snyder is young cheap 2-3 (See he reminds me of an old King's player Gerald Wallace, (lesser version) without the D about equal Offense if given time I would think. 26th PIck - ANY PICK in this year's draft is a good pick, this draft is stacked... Battier - Talented could help develop young players or EASILY turn around and be traded again for a pick + expiring contract Jho - Same as battier w/out the talent part (Both of these guys can be traded easier than Bibby because its 2 smaller contracts) Sura's expiring - just for kings to save money It would be tricky and I don't know exactly what we can do, but I wouldn't mind the trade if we did it.
Thats where we get people cheap. All those people I named we use 2... We are gettign 2 back. Snyder/Vspan/Sura/Pick <-- used rarely or never or injured Jho/Battier <-- We used: We would be left w/: Bibs/Alston TMac/Bonzi Artest/Novak Hayes Yao/Deke + MLE. PG prob fixed use MLE on DECENT PF and we are alright.
The part where Bibby actually joins the Rockets. I think the chances of that happening are roughly the same as the chances for Lindsay Lohan straightening up and flying right.
Where is that part? Don't take the existence of a profile to mean we're getting that player. There's one for Kobe Bryant for crying out loud. Bibby has been a rumor since Adelman came on board because he "could" be a free agent and he might be traded, so I felt the profile had merit. I don't think it's a likely acquisition, nor does it make a lot of financial sense for the Rockets. But then you'd have to read the second half of the profile to know that.
i think bibby would be a greater addition to the rockets than artest or rashard b/c he fills a major need position on this team, while providing the ideal qualities at PG that this team has been lacking since Sam Cassell was shipped out...and you've got to have a so-called "Big 3" to compete in the West. poised PG's with a clutch shot dont grow on trees... one possibility, and i'm not entirely sure if this arrangement impedes on any rules...but what if Bibby opts out of his current 2 years for 28 million...and resigns with the Kings for something like a 3 year contract for 30 million and an option for a 4th year...and then Bibby is traded to houston for Battier, Sura and VSpan...with various fillers to balance out the money more perfect? Bibby would be getting a little bit more money and security, Kings would still save money and get some talent back for him, Rockets could back-load that contract to save cap space these first 2 years while T-Mac and Yao take up most of the cap...and if you're thinking, why don't the Kings just let him go out right...well, Bibby can always just not opt out and eat $14 million per for the next 2 years while the King's young guards waste away on the bench...but this way, everyone's happy. yeah?
With the luxury tax going up every year, I don't see how it is still impossible to have 3 max contract players, especially when one of them (Yao) is on an early max contract. I'd rather have one very good max player than two Battier types, because there is only one ball to go around. A "big 3" could lead us to the title - it's working for San Antonio. I think Bibby helps this team, even with the loss of a Battier in a trade, more than Artest would.
I totally agree with this. If we get Bibby, I am sure we will at least get into the second round of Playoffs, providing that TMac and Yao stays healthy 80% of time.
Actually we can get either Bibby or Artest but not both. 1. The combined players cost too much 2. They hate each others guts
Of course I know there is Kobe, LBJ and Wade, but realistically, the following is my wish list for this summer: 1. Bibby or Calderon (I would trade Battier for him and MoPee) 2. Sheed 3. Artest If we can get two of the above without letting go TMac and Yao, we are a championship contender. If we any one of the above, we will get to the second round of Playoffs. If we don't get any upgrade at PG or PF, we are screwed.
