I think the our OL is more responsible for our goal line woes.

The Chiefs what many considered the best line in football. Those lineman got old/hurt, and now they have a weak offensive line.

They also had Tony Richardson, the best run blocking FB in the league.

Larry Johnson is done as a dominant, or even good back in the NFL.

If the Chiefs trade Dwayne Bowe, Haley should be fired on the spot. That guy is going to be something as long as he keeps his head on straight. Haley's gotta get over this thing he has against receivers, or else he's going to end up with teams full of Bobby Engram's and Mark Bradley's.

Derrick Johnson. I'd meet their request, give up a fourth, and not look back. Every Sunday for the foreseeable future, I'd run Johnson, Ryans and Cush out. I would think that would be the best (and one of the youngest though I'm too lazy to look) LB crews in the league.

I liked DJ for us in '05 (was very upset when we took TJ over him, in a cluster). I'm glad now, that we didn't, because we would have passed on Cush potentially. It's perfect timing and he'll help us to the playoffs. I think DJ has the speed (sub 4.5) and play making ability to dominate on the weak side and would be a perfect compliment to 59 and 56. Nothing against Diles (good and quality depth)...but I take DJ and run out our three stud LB's to go rattle some peoples coconuts.

DJ has fallen out of favor and needs a change of scenery, and is relatively "cheap" to acquire. He's a Texan. Bring him home.

    Shaun Rogers for sure.

No sense in paying big money for a back that is on the wrong side of their prime.

No need at all for receiver help.

This offseason, pay Ryans and Daniels big money but short term (no sense in giving them what will be a grandfather contract with the cap situation a huge unknown post-CBA). Robinson I offer market value, which is less than the 3 yr deal he rejected, and if he walks I let him. He screwed himself this past offseason. He's a solid starting CB, but he's a shadow of the cover corner he was two years ago.

A few years ago he had a great offensive line....

I'd take Derrick Johnson in a heartbeat. He was a 1st round draft pick out of Texas with great upside, he could complete the LB corp of ours. Also Huff he looks like a good saftey that could do better behind a good pass rush.

Richard Seymour would be great but I don't think the Raiders would back door and trade him away, seeing that he helped defeat the Eagles really hurts the possiblity of them wanting to get rid of him.

We need D line help so anyone that's big and can either stop the run or rush the passer would help the defense a ton.

A lot of talent on those lists but I'd be hesitant to offer more than a 3rd for any of them. What can a 3rd rounder nab us from that list?

They need to go after a DeAngelo Hall (he's doing ok this year, right?) or Randy Moss type player who is being held back by their situation rather than just flat-out sucking.

Anybody know a player that fits that description?

We should be targeting crappy teams that are looking to jettison salary/stock picks so we can cherry pick.

Deadline has passed. No major deals to speak of, as usual.

It's just hard to give up a lot for any player in the middle of the season that's going to have to come in and learn a new offense/defense. By the time they are comfortable the season is coming to an end.

I never understood the whole "learn another system" argument. It's football. These guys have been playing it for years. I understand that there are some really complicated schemes out there that take weeks upon weeks to learn, but the whole idea isn't to trade for a guy and throw him in the fire on the first week. You bring him in, let him get acclimated to the new team, all while getting some reps on the field, and learning the new schemes in practice. At the end of the day, the goal is to knock the snot out of the other guy.
