    Whatever they want to do.

It is another impressive non-deal that Trump can add to his long CV of non-deals.

The GOP and Trump have known since October DACA was a must to get their vote. It was unnecessary for the GOP & Trump to hold that and CHIP as leverage to try and get "the wall" funding that NOBODY wants other than ignorant people who have no understanding of the border along Mexico, and the issues around it.

Just for the record - The same Republicans that are blaming the Democrats for shutting the government down, shut down the government over PROVIDING insurance to millions of people.

The Democrats are threatening to NOT VOTE (its ultimately up to the Republicans to deal or not deal) for an essential deportation notice to 800,000 immigrants who have lived here their whole life and came to the US government in confidence.

The moral high-ground here isn't even debatable. The Dems have every right to do everything they can to save the fate of 800,000 Americans that are as American as you and I. Its the right thing to do. You can't say that about the moral high ground of jackasses like Ted Cruz who shut down the government over healthcare EXPANSION that had already passed fair and square.
    .........

Let's be honest for a minute please. We all know that the Hard Right (Trump's base, and some folks here we all know), DO NOT want DACA folks to stay. They want them deported because they feel like ALL immigrants are a threat to them keeping their jobs, and they are ignorant enough to think our job market works as a supply and demand market where if there is less of "them" (immigrants) I'll be in more demand and will get paid more. That's Bannon-Trump-Nationalism in a nutshell.

Trump, Miller, Kelly know this, and know the Trump base. This shutdown is PERFECT for them because they get to have it both ways. They get to tell the GOP legacy moderates, evangelicals, etc. that "we tried", but the EVIL DEMOCRATS shut down the government so .... sorry Dreamers... bye bye. People like Texx then celebrate, and put another MAGA bumper sticker next to his Confederate flag bumper sticker.

The only person this shutdown benefits is Trump and Trump's hardcore base honestly. He has all the POLITICAL reason in the world for doing it.

That's why I think eventually Shumer and Dems cave on a CR to kick the can down the road AGAIN tonight with some verbal agreement to negotiation DACA by the end of March. I believe what Shumer is negotiating right now is some written statement or document that is an agreement TO MOVE FORWARD in good faith on the parameters of a DACA deal. That way when Trump inevitably backs out of that agreement to move to deport Dreamers, it gives Dems political cover that Trump is to blame for their deportations.

Will Trump give the Dems AT LEAST that political cover? Probably not because again... HE WANTS a shutdown. He's said as much multiple times, and he knows that politically is riles up his anarchist racist base.

Exactly to my point. Trump, Kelly, Miller know folks like Talla in Trumps base want a shut down. It’s in their nature and their core admittingly.

The fact that the Dems position only has to do with saving immigrants (the core of what motivates Trumps base other than anarchy) means there’s just no way Trump will do a deal on DACA. Especially not when you give him the gift of a shutdown which excites his base.

Trump sucks at getting deals done, and he has shown that before now. That being said, I hate the idea of shutting down the govt.

    Relevant video.

The GOP has had the power to fund CHIP anytime they wanted in the past year.

The hilarious part is when Trump enters the fold and decides to **** over the GOP narrative accidently.

CHIP is probably a better hill to die on than DACA, IMO.

Sure there is . many Republicans have said so. Stop illegal immigration via wall or whatever and get DACA.

Current proposal funds CHIPs for 6 years. Democrats won't support it.

Democrats should get whatever they want in the funding bill as long as they speak out about it early enough....... brilliant.

A government shutdown is great news for Republicans in the 2018 midterms. All this does is perfectly drive home the message that Democrats value the needs of illegal aliens over American citizens.

Rand and Graham both said they are no votes. Republicans don't even have enough votes to pass simple majority.

will the wall stop rapists? there are so many rapists more so of the white kind, some even disguise themselves as hard working american politicians.
will the wall stop drugs? I for one wish that drugs other than weed didn't sell in the U.S.A or anywhere but if the wall stopped latin america from sending drugs, some russian or croatian mafia would ship them from their end.
Will the wall stop those determined to flee their countries to get in? they will find a way.
Bad hambres with criminal records living here undocumented should be deported. I think we can all agree with that but a wall is just simply making a golden boar for the orange god and his followers to prance around. That Money should go to true Christian values, serving the poor. As for the spending on 'defense', if you can't defeat North korea with what we have we shouldn't be in that line of business. We no longer have to worry about the motherland of Russia as they're our bffs. China? they make all of our beautiful cheap steel so that our rich geniuses can profit. we need china!

Don't give me those tired inaccurate talking points. Walls work. Case in point, Israel.

If a wall wouldn't work you and the Democrats wouldn't be so dead-set against it. The left is against it because they need their uninterrupted stream of future voters.

Financial? $25 billion for a wall is peanuts compared to the tens of billions wasted on worthless social programs and the $116 billion net cost that illegal immigrants incur to our country EVERY YEAR.

The Obama administration saw our national debt balloon by $8 TRILLION, and y'all are complaining about $25 billion for a wall that we've needed badly for most of my lifetime.
