Buck Williams was 29-32 during their runs into the finals Jerome Kersey was averaging about 17 points and 8 rebound a game for several years.
Before Jordon started winning his championships, some people argued Clyde was the better player. The argument was, Clyde could score, and was the better passer and rebounder. Jordon just scored allot. Again, that was before Jordon started winning all those Championships.
1. Phil Jackson 2. Rick Adleman 3. Paul Silas 4. Larry Brown 5. Mario Ellie Question::: Why cant we hire JVG as the defense coach and Adleman as the head coach?? Spurs: Pop and PJ Carlisimo Mavs: AJ and Del Harris
Coach K leaves Duke and comes to the Rockets. lol Heard Rick Barry wanted to coach. I couldn't think of a worse human being to coach the Rockets.
Because Van Gundy will make more money on TNT? I doubt Les Alexander will pay Jeff enough for that to make sense...
1) Rudy 2) Rudy 3) Rudy 4) Mario I was crushed when the Rox decided to replace Rudy - I remember the day clearly and was devistated. He was the only coach to win a Championship of the 3 major sports franchises in the fourth largest city in the entire USA. I thought it was bogus at the time, I remember it as if a relative had passed away (only I didn't know what to believe because of the so called "health problems".) Now I believe it was a conspiracy to save face while forcing him out, but we tried the opposite in JVG and 4 years later it still hasn't worked. I still believe that if Rudy would have held the rains and not "retired" his last year then the Rox would not have folded and they would have made the playoffs. Seriously, if you're going to change coaches - Coaching Rule 101 is to replace a coaches coach with a players coach or vice versa - JVG is a coaches coach, so with this team you've got to follow suit and replace him with a players coach, otherwise we'll be in the same situation next year. Obviously the Rockets have not succeded with the "coaches coach" type of coach, let's see what the Rox can do with out "the leash".
So what's his "true color"? To me, Larry Brown: great coach, but probably not good choice as money is concerned Del Harris: would be perfect coach for Yao, not the right one for Rockets tho Rick Adelman: as former kings coach he impressed me with his offense philosophy; personally i wish one day M.Bibby would become a Roxer playing with Yao for champion? slim chances yet my dream...
Absolutely, both leave their franchises in far worse shape than when they got there. Scorched earth policy, the only exception is when there is a powerful GM that refuses to let them ruin it and runs them out of town like Dumars. DD
How exactly did JVG leave this franchise worse off then whne got here? While I think it is time to bring in a new personality to take this team to the next level...can you really defend anyone Gundy jettisoned out of Houston? When Spanoulis is the biggest malcontent on your roster the coach must have done at least something right...
C'mon that's a bunch of horse pucky you can criticize a lot about JVG and Larry Brown but 'leaving the franchise in worse condition than when they got there', please, you're pulling that out your arse. The only example of that with Larry Brown is in New York, where the owners were obviously trying to tell him what players to play and he wasn't having it. Other than that situation, he has an impeccable record of turning franchises around. (Having said that, I don't endorse him for the job because our players don't need to learn the game, they need to do a better job of forcing the opposing team to adjust to our match-ups, JVG's biggest weakness). There is no doubt in my mind that we are a better team right now then when Rudy left, (better roster for sure, but a better team none the less). As for clashing with the front office and hanging players out to dry in the media, I have never seen JVG do that. Clashes with the fornt office are stupid anyway. In my opinion that's what coaches are suppose to do, their concern is winning, so they shouldn't take their cues form anyone who is more concerned with selling tickets.
What about John Lucas to coach the Rockets??? He takes a hard-nosed approach to coaching and he works very well with troubled young players. Sacramento is going to trade Ron Artest this summer for sure... The Rockets can get him for peanuts!!! Can Lucas be that coach that can take him in and clean him up of his off the court issues??? Lucas can relate to Artest with these personal issues. Artest would put our team over the top as a championship contender.
What I don't like about JVG: stubbornness and offensive ineptitude (those are a little redundant, as some of his stubbornness involves unwillingness to loosen the reigns on superstar offensive players). What I like about Carlisle: May be one of the most well-balanced coaches in the NBA. We won't be sacrificing much on defense, but we will be gaining quite a bit in the half court offense I think. He is also probably THE BEST coach in the NBA in terms of making something out of what should be nothing... considering the Rockets lineup outside of their top 3 or 4 players, that's an asset that could prove VERY valuable. And even though he may not discipline his players in quite the same way as JVG, they have always liked him. It's not like we'd be sacrificing anything looking at the way these guys handle headcases... So yes, Carlisle is easily the best choice if we do indeed get rid of JVG. Like I said, though, I'm on the fence on whether or not I actually want to get rid of him.
