I think Clutch started this thread to talk about a player being Gasol-ed,as he put it- and not necessarily to us. Thus, the reason this being in the NBA DISh. Jermaine O'Neal and Elton Brand are excellent choices because they are good players on not good teams and those teams don't know how to get them good help. Not next year ,but the year after i could see a Chris Bosh or a Luol Deng.I am not sure what those teams are really doing and i do not know how either team will get significantly better. Vince Carter seems to be had.Michael Redd is very interesting.I do wish we could land that guy.

haha, chris bosh? he's signed to a max contract, the raptors love him, and they are a developing team in the playoffs. most of your ideas are not realistic.
So are you saying that Grizzlies management was taking the same stuff Marbury took before that interview?
Next season? Depending on what transpire in the 2nd half and possible playoffs Tmac may not even on the team next year. So, I don't know.
Who will want to take our 3-4 expiring contracts on their limited roster space for a "Gasol"? Any trades of this nature are likely to take place around the trading deadline in February instead of the start of the season. We will just have to wait.
As far as figuring out who might get Gasol'd, you've got to look for the teams that are bleeding money. Poor attendance/small market/cheap owners and large contracts are the key combination. Teams that make sense: Bucks, Memphis, New Jersey, Philly, Seattle, Charlotte, and Minny make the most sense to me. Denver and New Orleans might also fit, but are less likely. Redd would be nice, but I doubt they'd just give him away. Simmons, Dan Gadzuric and Mo Williams, much more likely. Mike Miller's no secret, and I'm sure you could add Darko to that. Of course, Wallace took such a backlash from the media and fans over Gasol, he pulled everyone off the block this week. Vince Carter is very much available, and NJ does love packages based on cap space and draft picks. They could make the move focused on a big man, though. I doubt they'd turn down a good offer for Jefferson. Philly would send US draft picks to deal expirings for Dalembert. Andre Miller becomes an expiring himself this summer, so that doesn't work. Seattle would be Ridnour, but he's quickly playing himself out of the league. Bobcats...either Richardson or Wallace? Nazr, but he's terrible. Maybe they unload Morrison, who's a backup at best next year. No one really works for the Wolves. Jaric comes closest, but he's garbage. Either Hilario or Martin has to get sold for cap space by the Nuggets; I can't believe they haven't been able to do so yet. Hornets are riding high, but Shinn is a cheap owner and they're getting creamed financial in New Orleans. I figure Peja could be had for expiring contracts starting this summer. There's my list: Mike Miller Vince Carter Richard Jefferson Peja Stojakovic Evan
It has been a tough season for him. True. Yet, I see a guy who has gotten 'lost' in his situation and needs out. (Think: young Billups, perhaps? Sammy over a few years after Rox before Mini?) He's hard nosed and has cold blood. I'd be happy to have him start for the Rox.
Gasol Level Stars? Marion Gilbert Redd Ilgauskas? Carter Jefferson O'Neal (Jermaine) Elton Brand Jason Richardson More Realistic... Andre Miller Mike Miller Emeka Okafor Players Rockets Should Go For. Both Millers, Redd, Brand, Okafor... sure brand and okafor are very unrealistic, it just depends on what bobcat and clipper wants to do. they may want to still compete, which i think bobcat would realistically do, since they are in the east. but for the clippers, the west is just too touch, and their main role players and their star player are too injury prone. watch for the clippers to have a fire sale.
I am so with you on this. Of course the conundrum is TMac out means Rox were to go out early, as in April or earlyish May. TMac = Hinrich + Nocioni. Value for both teams is the season doesn't extend. And extend some more?
Hinrich's contract is interesting because he seems to get paid 1 M less every year of his contract, so in contrast to many other contracts, the price/performance ratio should get better every year, not worse. Other than that: Camby Mike Miller Vince Carter Richard Jefferson Kirilenko Caron Butler Gilbert Arenas
Next year 'should' be a bounce back year for Clips with Brand/Livingston/high lotto all in. If they should flutter, and in the West any team can fail, their first Gasoling would be Cat. Is he good enough for the conversation? I wondered if Elgin would try to engineer a Cat/Ross deal for assets to assist with the bounceback potential. No surprise he (they) sat on his (their) hands.
Morey made it more than clear during his interview that Bobby Jackson makes us legit players to Gasol someone next season. I love that he all but said it flat out. Morey doesn't play "pee pee games", he tells it like it is.
the deal for gasol really is *****ed up.... almost as if they had some sort of inside *wink*wink* deal with the lakers. no way you give up gasol for so little. apparently the league is none too happy with the deal, and rightfully so. i mean, how would you feel if you were a memphis fan? giving up your franchise player for absolutely no one?!? that's not right.
personally I think Antawn Jamison would be golden here, but with Scola & Landry emerging we need the star PG. Arenas does jack up shots, but if you put him with T-mac I think T-mac could be solely a distributor and let Arenas lead. Plus Arenas has the fire and passion that we always seem to say this team needs.
I think there are always plenty of moody star-level players (meaning near or at all-star but isn't a superstar) making $10+ mil on a bad team and is just waiting to be dumped for expirings + young talent. Gasol isn't the first. Ray Allen, Iverson, Baron Davis... there have always been a ton of these players. From a Rockets standpoint, for the first time in a while, they finally have expendable TALENT to go with the expirings for making these trades. Head, Brooks, Landry, are young players. Battier and Scola are both solid players making reasonable money. And Bobby Jackson is now a $6 mil expiring. Morey can finally work his magic this offseason without the constraints he had last year.
bounce back? the west is just too tough, and personally, i just don't think livingston have it anymore.
