tigereye - It's a nice thought and I hope the Rockets will unveil a "real" logo, but you're wrong on this one. The R logo is simply compressed and appears smudged. This makes the top of the R appear to be wider and taller than in actuality. The ring is the only questionable feature. Perhaps the Rockets are adding a circle behind the R to add some sort of definition, but that's probably for the court only. We will have to wait until the jersey release to see if that is a permanent part of the logo. I think it is necessary to have some sort of circle at midcourt for the tipoff, though I may be wrong.

GREAT find tigereye!!! I scanned in the picture and did some image editing to try and figure out what that was. When I removed all of the red, there was a (difficult to see) outline of the Rockets' R logo. Then, when I did some other edits, it became a bit more clear. I think it's the R with some writing around it, and it's one of those half-shadow things -- not a shadow of the R, but just an outline, but one half of the outline is dark, with the other side light.

It seems that it is the R logo and just some junk, perhaps writing, around it.

theforumisdown.com is not letting me link the images to cc.net or I would, and I'm too tired to look for anything else . . . perhaps I'll upload my findings tomorrow . . .

Thanks Vengeance............I cant wait to see your findings. Hopefully there better then mine. When I looked at the logo at center court, I was almost assured that there was a "third black rocket" in there. But I might be wrong cause the logo was so small and there is so much red to deal with. But the circle and writing did appear when I scanned and zoomed on the sucker. I think it says "Houston Rockets" written inside the circle ala the Celtics logo. This would go along with Pops (Oliepere for those who dont know) theroy in which he said "Houston Rockets" would appear around the logo or something along those lines..........we shall see..............in the morning that is. I'm to tired myself!

I started reading this thread at work last night & planned to go thru the paper 1st thing this morning, but crashed as soon as I got home. Well I just got up & finished rummaging thru the paper & I GOT YAO!!!

Now the interesting thing about these posters is that the Rockets are using Cat on their ad posters! That would suggest that they ARE NOT PLANNING TO TRADE CAT at the present time!

I don't think they were full pictures of the jerseys, just partial pics like on these billboards...

    http://www.nba.com/rockets/photogallery/Billboard_Photo_Gallery__715-80364-186.html

But yeah, doesn't ANYBODY have a scanner so that us out-of-towners can check those posters out? That would be greatly appreciated. If you don't feel like uploading them to an image hoster, email them to me at d_town333@yahoo.com and I'll host & post them.

I'd have to say those billboards with just the R.. look pretty plain and Franchise looks constipated.. Also I wish they would stop teasing the public with different portions of the jersey being showed in each picture

Ummmm ... the marketing department designed the posters, and they're handling the uniform launch, too. I think they're fine with it.

Well, I see the marketing department has decided to grace us with there presence. ;)

Good to hear from you Tim. Long time no see.

    Got a question for you........

What's up with center court and that logo?

Is it another logo........or just a design.......( I assume a ring usually indicative of center court with "Houston Rockets" inside it a la Indiana's center court design.)

    Just wondering.......

    Thanks. :)

Look foward to seeing you at TC on the 13th.

I constructed my own poster that I think looks better than the original. I got a Francis poster but didn't particularly like the picture of him grimacing. I cut the schedule section from the bottom of the front side of the poster and taped it to the top of the back of the poster that has the pic of Yao, Steve, and Cuttino as well as the Toyota Center seat chart.

Now I have it on my wall with the schedule, pictures of all three players, and a seat chart. It looks much nicer and more informative in my opinion.
