Cant forget the Refs, who have blatant point of emphasis's, and have been grilling Harden for 2 straight games. I mean for 28 games he can play a certain way & get calls...then all of a sudden he has to change his game. Beyond frustrating.
I don't think it's effort, I think it's just that we aren't playing very smart. Take tonight for example, we had DMo being guarded by Kris Kardashian most of the night and he had 1 total touch in the post for the entire first half, that's just unacceptable. Our guys are forcing situations that aren't favorable and ignoring favorable situations. Also, we aren't setting screens worth a damn which is having an adverse affect on our spacing and ball movement. Pretty much everyone on the team is playing with their heads firmly lodged in their 4th point of contact.
i've always called him a selfish defender. he doesnt play team oriented defense, just cares about looking good by getting in the guy's face. meanwhile, he gives up 3 open passing lanes and is out of position to help on D. but no, he's wolverine, he's da greatest PG in the world because of his defense and the fact his name isn't Jeremy Lin.
Looking at the personnel outside of Dwight, this roster seems tailor-made for the kind of run-and-gun offense we had in 2012-2013. If he bought into running the P&R and playing clean-up guy, we would be unstoppable. But to me, his insistence on posting up just makes for a really awkward fit in the context of the way everybody else is suited to play.
Rockets is a better team this year. Maybe they will win more games than last year, but still they seem to suffer a first round exit. There are too many 3D players on the court (I'm not sure they really have 3s), but no one can organise the offense except Harden. Beverley might forget he's just a role player, not a super PG.....Maybe Dragic would make a difference... It reminds me of the McGrady&Yao Rockets. Tons of talent, great stars, but when it adds up it doesn't worked up. Still need some chemical reaction.
for everyone who sees out need for a real PG. here's my one star rant from 6 months ago that all the Morey apologists eviscerated me on.
remember the play that he finally passed the ball to Dmo and then get it right back. I thought it was really funny.
Yeah, that was the one post touch in the first, it was the right play, but I'd have rather he be more selfish with it.
This. There were a ton of possessions tonight where DMo was in the game without Dwight -- yet all 5 guys were hanging around the perimeter like they were allergic to the paint. Get in there and call for the damn ball.
Main frustration- The GARM after a loss. The "analysis" is awful. People bringing out their pet issues and old posts. It us hard to dig through the crap to find something insightful.
Not being on the court with Harden is not the problem. DMo comes in for Howard and Harden remains on the court. DMo didn't play a single minute without Harden tonight until the 4th quarter.
I just want to get to the playoff results already. The Rockets have done a complete 180 this season overall with a drastic improvement in defense but a drastic regression in offense. I know it sucks now with the recent losses, but this development should be seen as a POSITIVE for our playoff hopes. As long as we get back to playing good D with EFFORT, we should be fine and put ourselves in a position to win a series.
Not only that, we can still make moves like acquire Dragic If we resigned Parsons for "stability" (what team even has that?) Then we'd be stuck
I was very disappointed in Dwight's effort tonight, especially in the 2nd half. Just didn't play hard, not focused. For my frustrations, aside from the above: Lack of energy from starting unit is pissing me off. People are acting like it's a Josh Smith problem and it's not, the starting unit has sucked since like the Sacramento game. We dig ourselves a hole every night, I will say that Smith being unsure of his role and himself on the court isn't helping, though. We shouldn't be running plays for Smith. He needs to do the TJones role, get garbage buckets and run the floor. He's had the ball in his hands to much in our halfcourt offense. The fact that neither DMo nor Smith play well in the starting lineup next to Dwight. Jones was great for that role. Beverley and Terry's shooting slump, and Ariza's shooting woes throughout the year. The fact that we are wasting some incredible games from Brewer.
