It seems to me that Morey's trying to sign Landry for portion of the MLE and leave the other portion untouched. We are top 10 in payroll. They might move Bobby Jackson if its a decent deal and we get less salary back.
1. Yao 2. T-Mac 3. Battier 4. Scola 5. Alston 6. Barry 7. Brooks 8. Landry 9. Hayes 10. Jackson 11. Francis 12. Dorsey 13. Mutumbo 14. Novak D-League: Greene Head is done (let's trade him to memphis for a 2nd rounder, so they can finally usher in the gay head era). Novak is probably done, but I can't think of who else to put there. Hopefully Francis can contribute, if not, they're holding onto his expiring deal at least until the deadline.
Start: yao scola mac battier rafer 6-8man: landry jackson barry (francis) 9-12man: guys who could crack into the rotation francis brooks hayes dorsey (head) 13-15: head greene novak deke
Yao Dorsey Scola TMac Battier Barry Alston Greene Aaron Brooks Landry B Jackson Deke Hayes Head Francis The BOLDS mean "do what you want for the future for these guys" Of course I think Battier is the only real piece besides the "potential factor of Carl Landry", the contact worth of Jackson and the east contender factor for Deke.
Barring major changes, this is what I'm expecting. Point Guards 1. Rafer Alston 2. Bobby Jackson 3. Aaron Brooks 4. Steve Francis Shooting Guards 5. Tracy McGrady 6. Brent Barry 7. Luther Head Small Forwards 8. Shane Battier 9. Mike Harris Power Forwards 10. Luis Scola 11. Carl Landry 12. Chuck Hayes Center 13. Yao Ming Rookies 14. Donte Greene 15. Joey Dorsey The rest Mutombo doesn't re-up and Steve Novak is traded for a draft pick. (Possibilities posed by the Houston Chronicle.) Loren Woods is cut. The possible changes to this lineup would be if Landry gets a rich offer and bolts, Mutombo reaches an agreement and stays, or Francis decides he's done and retires.
I don't remember reading that either but I do a guy on the radio saying that Novak really wnts to be released because there are other teams with interest. Ship him ASAP. Get something for him.
It's in another thread: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=151067 Here's the part about Novak: The Rockets shot just 34 percent from beyond the arc last season. Only one player, Steve Novak, shot better than Barry, and he's a defensive liability. He'll probably be traded as Morey trims his roster before the start of training camp. On Mutombo: It gets interesting after that. Morey has gotten nowhere in negotiating a new deal with Dikembe Mutombo and seems comfortable going without a bona fide backup center.
Heres my list: Starters: 1 rafer 2 tmac 3 scola 4 battier 5 Yao Bench: 6 brooks 7 jackson 8 barry 9 landry 10 hayes 11 head 12 dorsey Inactive 13 greene 14 francis (expiring contract only) 15 woods or deke (depends on training camp) Cut: Deke or woods Harris Novak
for you guys saying d-league, those players still count against you 15 player roster, so the D-League cannot give the rockets a 16th roster spot. If a player is in the d-league, that means the rockets would have 14 players at games with 2 of them being inactive
Since it's so early and who knows what will happen, I will play around with this. Trade Tmac for Billups and Prince Battier Francis and Jackson Hayes for Redd Head Novak for Johan Petro Sign Landry Deke and Nachbar 15 man roster looks like this Billups/Alston/Brooks Redd/Barry Prince/Nachbar/Greene/Harris Scola/Landry/Dorsey Yao/Petro/Deke
C: Yao /Deke?/Dorsey PF:Scola/Hayes/Horry SF:Battier/Greene/Stephen jackson/Novak? SG:Tmac/Barry/ PG:Francis/rafer/Brooks/cassell trade bjax, luther and Woods for Jakson. If Deke sign with us ,then release Novak. What we need are experienced guys, which in particular have the experience of winning the championship.Celtics should not owe the ship to the big three only ,Cassell and Posey had also played an key role in the finals. It's casell and posey's champion experience that help celtics won the ship.We need to go after celtics and spurs who have many diplomatic guys.compared to spurs, yao acts as duncan, tmac manu,sf3 Parker, battier as bowen , scola as oberto. ....... seperate the MLE for cassell and horry, who won their first rings in houston.
Sorry I am just a little confused Ok.. my confusion is.. if you don't sign your draftee to a contract first, then why can't he play in the d-league? Plenty of players play in Europe after being drafted by a team, yet the team retains their rights? So if Greene doesn't sign a contract with the Rockets (yet), then he is prohibited from signing with a d-league team? In that case, I guess if this was what the Rockets wanted, they have to send him to Europe until mid-season when they can clear up some roster space. Would that work?
T-mac SF3 Rafer Shane Yao Landry Scola Greene Dorsey Deke B Jax A brooks B Barry M Harris Rodney Carney--Trade Luther and Novak to Minnesota
Aaron Brooks Skip Wink Tracey Tabo Sefolosha Ben Gordon Barry Shane "Hussein" Battier Chuck Wagon Yao Ming Luis Scola Green Dorsey Mike "Ike" Harris Deke
TMAC SF3 YAO RAFER sHANE BJAX LANDRY SCOLA DEKE IF HE DOES NOT SIGN KEEP THE CHUCKWAGON GREENE DORSEY BROOKS B BARRY M HARRIS MAURICE EVANS- SIGN AND TRADE LUTHER NOVAK TO ORLANDO tHIS GIVES US EXPERIENCE ATHLETICISM AND SHOOTING ON THE OFFENSIVE SIDE OF THE BALL. DEFENSIVELY WE ARE FASTER AND REBOUNDING WILL PROBABLY BE BETTER THAN EVER
A very difficult question to answer at this point in the 'Off' season! For sure 1 Yao Ming 2 Scola 3 Barry Most likely 4 McGrady 5 Landry 6 Alston 7 Green 8 Dorsey 9 BROOKS Possibly 10 Chuck 11Alston 12 Battier 13 Jackson Boarderline Possible Novac Francis Harris Mutombo Head POSSIBLY SOME MIGHT BE TRADED TO UPGRADE THE TEAM.[10-17] I WOULD LIKE TO SEE REDD AND Amare STAUDEMIRE on the team by 2010.
Let me try to clear things up. NBA teams are allowed two players to be sent down to their affiliated D-league team. Therefore, Greene would have to be signed if he is to be sent down by the Rockets. Otherwise, players are selected from the D-league draft and tryouts. So basically if he isnt signed and sent down by the Rockets he would have to earn his way into the D-league. The Rockets would retain his rights if he doesnt sign with them (regardless of he plays in the D-league or not) until the year he would have entered the draft had he not left college early. In this case that would be 3 years since I believe he only played his freshman year in college. If he signs with a team in Europe the Rockets would retain his rights for one year after the contract with that team expires. So to answer your question yes we can stash him away in Europe until mid season but it would be up to whichever team he signs with to release him. I hope that helps.
