Incorrect. The team last year was good defensively. This one is somewhat better, but that is to be expected given Van Gundy's obsessiveness. What is shocking (and unacceptable) is just how much worse this year's offense was.

    Point Wise:

    Griffin > Cato
    Moochie > MJax
    Rice > Weatherspoon
    Posey > JJ

JVG basically traded or lost a lot of last year's offense to get guys that would play D and play within the system. The PPG differential isn't that surprising, however I do expect it to vastly improve next year. He's had a full season to evaluate the team and its needs and I feel confident in whatever he decides. That said, Go Rockets!

went looking back for a thread a couple of days ago and came upon every single thread you've ever created. I believe just about all of them had the word Rudy in the title or in the message. Sure explains your hatred of JVG

I'm gonna go ahead and restate the point of the thread because this is getting annoying.

I LOVE JVG AND THINK HE'S GREAT FOR THE TEAM. GO JVG!

I loved Rudy last year too but he was the wrong coach for the team at that point in their development.

We're now officially playoff mainstays. We'll stay that way for as long as we have Yao and Steve/whoever we get for Steve. Either JVG is going to stay and coach for 10 years, or somewhere along the line, for whatever reason, he'll leave. At that point we will have a "coaching vacancy". That means we'd need what they call "another coach".

See? No one said JVG sucked. But
years and years down the line he may not be the man for the job, MUCH LIKE RUDY.

JVG is fine, but what is Ewing doing here. Get him out of here, he doesnt have what it takes to be a coach. We need to get rid of him and get someone who is more offensive minded to help balance the team. Also, if JVG wants another ex-center to babysit Yao and show him the ropes. I would love to see Hakeem there.

I knew JVG's O was sorry when they signed him I've been branded as an anti-Gundy. I just don't think going back to Rudy will be an improvement over Gundy either. ISO doesn't work in a zone. I think we are going to have to ride this mule a little further before we shoot it but lets not go buy the older mule back either.

Posts: 1354. At least 60% of them on GARM. Boy, you've been busy ;)

For the record, look at this very thread. Certainly comparisons to last year, but I believe I mentioned RT only once, and that was to answer this thread.

Incidentally, I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I don't "hate" JVG. I consider him an average NBA coach, and a detriment to this team, but that is about it. He is good at coaching defense, and will outwork anyone in the league, but that doesn't make him a winner.

yaopao, to answer your question, YES.
    I've never like JVG.
While he's a good defensive coach, he's overrated as many have considered him to be a Great defensive mind.
    He's a horrible offensive coach.

And yes, we made the playoffs....but not because of him.
Three teams from last year broken up due to contracts, team issues, injuries, trades:

    -Utah
    -Portland
    -Phoenix

That makes room for 3 other teams.

If we didn't beat out Utah, Portland, Phoenix, Seattle, or the Clippers for 1 of the 3 spots, then this would have been one of the worst displays of coaching in the history of sports.
