There will be no Bonzi situation next season. He will opt out, likely get a full MLE for probably three years - and not from the Rox. As for Snyder, what is his upside? I question whether he's ever worth more than a deep rotation place on an NBA roster. Am I wrong? If so, why/how?
Cat's too expensive. And with Tmac at 2, Shane at 3, we don't have a starting spot for him. He can NOT play 1.
I would trade Cat Mobley for Rafer in a heart beat (would of worked this season if the Rockets traded Rafer and Sura for Mobes) if Mobley's contract wasn't soo much money. Mobley fits exactly what the Rockets need, which is good defense and 3 pt shooting spacing. Pay attention to the Rockets. When Rafer knocks down his shots the Rockets win, when he doesn't they lose. Also, Rafer is a good steals man but his one on one defense is average at best. Mobley is a far superior defender (remember he guarded melo last year in the playoffs). He isn't a true point guard and his dribbling skills aren't that great but who cares, he is the exact kind of player the Rockets need to look for this off season. By the way, this ticks me off about the Rockets this off season. Why did they not make a move for Derek Fisher? Utah picked up this guy and from day one he is a guy that would fit houston perfectly (His contract is absurd but still). The Rockets are one consistant and accurate three point shooter/ good defender away from being a true title contender.
If I remember correctly didn't they decide to go after Charlie Ward instead of Fisher? lol If we trade Rafer for Cat, who is our PG?
Cat's contract is not that different from Howard's, except the extra year. Howard's is about 7 mil the next two years. Cat's is about 8, 9 and 10 mil the next 3 years. I'd consider a Cat for Howard swap this offseason. Snyder could be included. The main difference salarywise is a 10 mil hit for 2009-2010 season--might be enough motivation for the Clips (save 10 mil). Then next year we keep on working Head into sharing the PG role with Alston and focus the draft or MLE for another PF.
I kinda agree... but man, sometimes he really does deserve that hate lol... But it is often overdone -- like people putting losses on his head, or making a habit of pointing out his "mistakes" while overlooking everybody elses Bonzi being gone really won't matter... as Van Gundy has made it clear that there is only one spot for Kirk/Bonzi. Kirk is a former starting SG for the Hornets... the potential is there, and we're not looking for a starter out of Kirk/Bonzi/whoever... Kirk is a much younger player that we can have for much cheaper, so he makes sense
Cat and Sam for Snyder, Alston, Howard, and Lucas. The Clipps save some cash and get a young, affordable wing player with some potential in Snyder, and a reliable veteran PF to back up Brand. The Rockets problems with guard play are over for the time being, but they need to get another 4 in the draft/FA.
