It's not a ****ing schtick. If you can't see what I'm seeing you're blind. Jalen's had 3 and 1/2 years to put his stamp on the position. He hasn't. Cam could easily replace him and should be prioritized in the rotation.
I’ll say this once and only once….Cam is not a point guard so everyone quit acting like FVV is stealing his minutes. FVV plays 40 minutes a game because his actual backup Reed Sheppard sucks. Cam’s negative reaction tonight was due to being notified that when Eason returns next game his minutes will be reduced.
As someone pointed out here, I think Cam was tryyyyying to do the "Dont settle / Still work to do" approach. A "Cant be happy, no time to get complacement, stay grinding" thing. But he's just too awkward aloof & he cant convey it right. He coulda even said "I dont know" simply to dodge answering the interview altogether. I can ease up on him there. The part I'm hard on him with, is him not knowing what else he can contribute. How can he acknowledge that he needs to earn more consistent minutes, while not knowing what else to do lol? The 2nd part contradicts the first. Or shows he's just not soaking it in Yes this is about consistent focus on fundamental things. Misunderstood or not, he showed its gonna be difficult to break him out of his Score-Only myopia
First of all, I like Cam more than Jalen. I want Jalen gone and increase Cam's minutes for sure. But, I don't like his attitude after this game. He is a second year rookie and not an alpha player yet. As far as I am concerned, this is not the way to properly express frustration especially if you just delivered a great performance and the team won.
I really wonder how people come to these conclusions if they watch games and see how differently they score in terms of roles.
Jalen's overall game has taken huge leaps and bounds since Ime has coached him. He may not have his offensive bag every night, but he will now give 100% in the court no matter what happens with his shot.
This was clearly a chippy comment but nothing Udoka cannot handle, Ime has players openly fight on the court.....so nothing he cannot handle..... We'll have to see if this escalates though.
Humility isn't a quality found among the NBA's best players. Cam plays with an edge. He has an innate ability and raw athleticism to put the ball in the rim and he doesn't really need "structure" to do it. What some find off-putting about Cam, I find refreshing.
That's the thing. When you say he doesn't need "structure" to score you are saying he needs defenses not set where they are backpaddling and off balance. "Structure" would be harder as defenses are set and are not backpaddling. You know it is harder to score in basketball when defenses are set. Yes Cam scores well when defenses are not structured and are in either transition or collapsed and are scrambling to attack a close out.
I could care less if he feels entitled, , he’s prob the only consistent shooter on the roster and that’s not even his true specialty. and now the fan base turns against him after saying this. gee idk Cam, what more can you do here
When the shots fall, he’s tolerable? When the shots don’t fall and the tunnel vision and the iffy defense, especially under this coach, byeee. The tunnel vision, going 1 on 3-4, getting shots up like there’s no tomorrow (you ain’t getting the ball back), the defense… but he also has nothing more to prove, to do in the G League. He has graduated from G League play. That’s not gonna help him. Either gonna figure it out in the NBA or gonna go to China/Europe. But then again, you knew that when you drafted him. Not as if “Wow, what happened to Cam Whitmore in the NBA?! Totally different player than we scouted and drafted! In college, team player, willing passer! Now he’s a selfish chucker!” … No.
If it doesn't escalate that is cool with me, I don't have a problem. They can both be passive aggressive in interviews for all I care. If it does, then one has to go, and it is likely not Ime. Has to better his on court awareness because I don't want to see another Carmelo light.
You can continue to play mental gymnastics to justify your love for Jalen Green, but I'm going to simplify for you why Cam's the better player. Not only is he a more athletic, explosive player, he's also a better shooter - something Jalen has struggled with. Cam hitting threes in the second quarter changed the momentum of the game tonight which led to the win.
