TBF they aren't even playing the same position. Ime needed to see if Reed could play NBA minutes so he can play FVV less
People don't realize coaches extrapolate sustainable play. Is Cam's defensive gambling, jogging back on defense and scoring in spurts sustainable in a full 30+ minute rotation? If he strugglers to put in the effort on defense in games where he just plays 15 minutes, how can he expect sustained effort on defense with full starter minutes? Coaches think of that stuff.
If this leads to us benching or trading Cam I’m gonna be so sad He was finally playing great, getting minutes, and now I don’t even know where the coaching staff is going to go with Cam after this. Guess we’ll see next game
Cam can save himself if he explains this was more of a frustration over himself and not the coaching staff.
“You can’t say that! Put on a fake smile. Be politically correct!” “Oh, you’re gonna glue me back to the bench? Oh, you’re gonna send me back to the Valley? Or best case, I’m gonna get traded up out of here?!”
Dunno if he has the media literacy to pull that off, to be honest. Because if he had, he wouldn’t have sulked in the interviews to begin with
Regardless that was a bad look by him. You want more minutes? Make it less about yourself and more about the team. We finally won a game after 2 horrendous losses in a row. Be happy about the win and say you are working hard to earn more minutes. Sengun never sulked like this in post game interviews after getting ****ing benched by Bruno Fernando.
He’s a very immature kid and unfortunately like a lot of his generation, feels entitled. I’m disappointed because I really think he’s got the aggressive goldfish mindset u want. But then you hear these kinds of comments or see poor body language. to be fair, he lost a ton of money sliding to late 1st round, and we wants to earn a big contact coming off his rookie deal. He can’t do that if he’s not playing minutes. But these kinds of comments are not gonna help him get on the court or increase his trade value. very disappointed. Hope he can keep his head down and just work hard this year. Things will work themselves out if he does that.
He looks to me like he is getting better and better. It blows my mind that there is so much negativity regarding players on this team that you are supposed to be a fan of. I just read this entire thread. I have seen the usual posters hate on their typical disliked player. So far in this thread. FVV Cam Reed Green. Follow the Rockets however you like. But this name calling, pouting, b****ing & moaning is so tiresome. I am enjoying the season immensely. The Rockets for the 4th year in a row will raise their win total. I hope next season will make it 5 and with decent health knock on 57-58 wins.
What is greens role cuz all I see is a FVV show? I dunno why Fred has the ball so much. But If the Rockets commit to Alpi cam is a much better fit as he's a better shooter and slasher. I assume that's why people want more Cam.
I just finished watching the game and then saw the whole Cam interview. My gut reaction is that this is being blown up more than it should. He said that he doesn't think he deserves consistent minutes, but then said he doesn't know what more he can do. Cam was the reason we won this game tonight. This team was dead offensively until Cam brought the fire in the 2nd quarter. WE DON'T WIN THIS GAME TONIGHT WITHOUT CAM!!! The Rockets organization needs to realize we have something special with Cam. IMO, he's just a better player than Jalen. If I had to choose between Cam or Jalen, I'm choosing Cam every time.
Green's first four years rate of fgs made that were unassisted: 2021- 48% 2022- 58% 2023- 59% 2024- 61% Cam first two years rate of fgs made that were unassisted: 2023- 28% 2024- 40% Green scores a lot more against set half court point of attack defenses than Cam ever since Green was a rookie because Green has more guard skills than Cam from the get go. Cam slashes agaisnt close outs. As in defenders running towards him to close out a three point shot because someone who is more talented with the ball (Sengun, Jalen or Fred) breaks down the defense and collapses it. Cam is worse at slashing to the rim than Jalen when asked to do it agaisnt set defenses agaisnt the primary ball handler.
We lose this game without Jalen, Sengun and Cam. Without Jalen, the first half would have been a blow out deficit the Rockets would have to catch up to.
I wanna chalk it up to immaturity, but it's alarming he doesn't seem to have any clue why he lost minutes. Players who think a professional coach has it out for them tend to not have great careers. He's playing better, and playing more...but he's still making a lot of the same mistakes. Mistakes that don't show up in the stat line. Million dollar physical talent, but everything screams 2 cent brain.
He has become consistently good on defense because his athleticism erases a lot of mistakes as long as he tries hard on D.
