3. ballhandling skills 4. lateral agility 5. touch around rim 6. more advanced lay up package 7. more ability to change pace, stop on a dime 8. passing 9. defensive stamina 10. defensive footwork 11. defensive commination with teammates. Cam is stronger. That is about the only trait I can think of where he is definitely better. Green is a better career ft shooter with a more compact one motion shooting form so any difference in 3 pt percentage is more likely due to Green expending more minutes and energy and taking more difficult threes rather than being a legitimately worse shooter than Cam.
Been building since that "I thought I already did" interview a few weeks back. These are probably the red flags teams saw and they don't seem to be subsiding. This will not go over well.
No, the glaring differences are 1. Cam can shoot 2. Cam is a lot stronger 3. Jalen gets all the playing time and usage no matter how awful he plays.
As a young player, it is important to have rules and stick to them. What Ime is telling Cam is doesnt matter if you play great or not you sit your ass down my love FVV needs his minutes.
I hate to see this after the good game by Cam. It's understandable about his frustrations but this isn't the approach and could backfire for him if he wants to stay here.....he may be trying to get traded
Cam played his butt off in the G-league and earned his way up to the big team in his rookie year and played well, in a team lacking good depth. Reed came in given minutes on the big team right away and has played like crap, in a team with good depth and still has yet to play in G-League. He shouldn't have air it out like he did but I get his frustration.
After singing Cam's praises for the last week, he sure made me look like a chump with these interviews lol. I understand the frustration, I really, really do. But this is not something to air out in public--unless he has really poor impulse control, really poor media training, or he really wants out. This isn't gonna get him more minutes, in fact, it COULD have the opposite effect, depending on how vindictive Ime Udoka wants to be (and I hope he isn't) In his second season, Alpi was being benched for ****ING BRUNO FERNANDO and he said "I will work harder". Last season Jalen averaged like 25 minutes over a whole month and was benched in the 4th every other game, and besides going off at Roosh in private, he said all the right things to the media. Cam just has to be patient. He's too good for good things not to come. But if he's impatient, he may ruin his reputation and gain some labels that he absolutely doesn't deserve.
#3 is the biggest reason why I’m 100% team Cam on this. Green has had the longest leash since day 1 and FVV can be a literal terrorist on the court and still get 40mins. Dillon can jack dumb shots too but god forbid if Jabari or Sengun make a mistake. And why isn’t Amen getting more minutes and a bigger role? And why did we send Cam to the G-League but not Reed? What happened to Uncle Jeff? Why’s Adams still getting run when he’s looking like a massive stiff? Ime preaches “accountability” except it’s actually selective accountability.
As an addendum, being "coachable" (whatever that means) is a real thing that helps players play. Even if they only give the appearance of being coachable. Reed, for example, is older than Cam and has played worse. But he always seems coachable if nothing else. And thus, he was ahead of Cam in the rotation. Not so much right now though.
Cam doesn't even have to be patient. Very few young NBA players are patient. He just has to deal with it like 99% of other young players do. He also can't say very stupid things to the media that will be difficult to live down.
Hard to be sure, would he really cut into FVV's minutes like that? You have to realize merit has nothing to do with the random **** Ime does when it comes to rotations and usage.
Also, after the game Brooks said that Sengun wanted him to cut but he didn't because he was "tired as ****".... but Ime kept him out there anyway.
It’s so funny people are taking sides on this when BOTH Cam AND Ime are in the wrong on this. Coach should absolutely be finding time for and developing a player like Cam who I still maintain would be a star on a team that gave him 30+ a night. Especially when players like Jalen and Reed get SO much slack (Fred I get and don’t compare to Whitmore since he plays a different position we have almost no depth at). And Cam absolutely should not be airing his grievances in the media and sulking after a good game. I’m in love with Cam’s potential. Might be my second favorite Rocket to watch after Amen and I’m excited when he checks in. But he needs to learn that attitude/chemistry is contagious. We don’t need a bad apple spoiling the bunch, and it would serve him to buy into the team first culture. So to those arguing that Cam is wrong, and those arguing Ime is wrong. Congrats, you are all correct. I’m going to be sad seeing Cam shipped out in a trade. Really don’t want to see it happen but fear that’s where we’re heading.
