There's a difference between trusting the coach and always assuming he is right. We got a whole of freethrows. Even without Yao Ming on paper the Rockets are a better team than GS. Whose fault is it then? Jordan Hill and PP are our pieces of the future, even if we are using them as trade bait they should get some PT. Even Brad Miller, we got him to be our center when Yao Ming isn't playing. Why are Chuck Hayes and JJ getting PT? Harebrained rotations like these are part of the reason why RA got run out of town in Sac.
Rockets fell for almost every every pump fake giving Golden State a ton of open looks. Really missed Yao's presence and the energy Lowry brings. Curry and Ellis were hot tonight. #fact Brooks was frustrating to watch.
Then you have to let him beat you. There is no way you give Ellis that many shots. 46 freaking points. Come on now..

i am sorry you dont let it get to 27 points by half before you switch someone else on Ellis or a new strategy. Lee could have been covering him earlier. Thats the only person who should have in fact.
It's a common theme if we are to be honest, even over the last couple of years. The guy is a great at building offenses at training and taking those into games but once in a game he is out coached and makes poor decision after poor decision. Think back to 08 how often he would revert back to the starting 5 to finish games regardless of how poorly they were playing or how well the bench were, think back to last night with 2 terrible play calls to finish the game. Hes a good coach, as he does have his positives but I think a bit of media pressure about his continued poor in game decisions could help him get better help around him... however no one probably has the balls to bring it up publicly against someone as experienced as Rick. On the game... quite embarrassing lets be honest, sure back to back away from home but this was a team that will win less than 30 games this year and one over the years we have handled easy. No time for panic as under Adelman we have been a poor starting team but if we drop the home opener going to be some people under the pump. Increased defense this year I thought was the aim? Yet we're giving up 120 points a game, under JVG we were lucky to have a single game we gave up that many!
Nothing was wrong with Jeffries tonight. He should have played more. Hayes should not be logging any mins at Center though. None. It's almost the equivalent of playing Shane at PG. Yet we do it again and again.
I can just hear RA say smething like: We needed defense so we played Chuck, Shane and Jeffries together to try and get some stops, but their shots kept fallin. Blah-blah. Why play players who are not even going to be with us longterm in the first place?
we can't play him, that might actually force GS to slow things down or stay away from the paint...wouldnt want that....
DD my point is this...championship quality PG's don't make silly mistakes during crucial moments of the game (such as dribbling off his feet, shooting contested layups, hoping to get a call when the game only has 5 sec's left, or passing it to a player for a 2 point attempt, when we clearly needed a 3.........) If the Rockets are built to win now, then AB needs to stop making these silly mistakes during crunch time. Yesterday - Botched Rotation on Steve Blake Today - Dribbling off his foot Who cares if he has 1 TO or 10 TO with 26pts and 10 assists, but it does matter when the game is close and how he responds with the ball in his hands so he puts the team in a good position to win As a captain As the starting PG I hope he starts improving
Didn't you know? Rick Adelman brought him in so they could discuss their glory days in Sac-town over a cup of tea.
The positives I am going to take away from this game: -Hayes offense -Martin's FTs -No ring ceremony. -Jordan Hill is now super well-rested. -Brad Miller had plenty of time to keep Yao company on the bench, ensuring team chemistry. -Ish Smith's 37 missed layups, thankfully, avoided injuring any fans seated behind the basket. -Kyle Lowry, despite back spasms, managed to play as many minutes as Jordan Hill and Patrick Patterson, combined. -Yao still had the exact same chance of winning the Jump Ball he normally does, even though he was wearing a suit -- impressive. -The Warriors fans will not see many victories this year--maybe 12?--so it's nice that they could get a W for the home-opener. -Our Assistant Coaches made it the entire game without forcibly stripping Adelman of his coaching duties, a la Denzel/Hackman in Crimson Tide. That must have taken some self-restraint and they should be complimented. All in all, we have a lot to feel good about.
As much of a disappointment this loss obviously was, we are two games into the season, with Lowry out and hopefully coming back sometime soon. Yes, we have problems on defense, yes, RA did not coach the game very well, but we still have another 80 games to go, and you guys can not get so down about our season already. I'm not happy we are 0-2, but I am going to keep watching the team play, and I can honestly say that I don't think this will be the story on another game this season. There are problems to be addressed, but the season is young, and I still believe this team can make a lot of noise in the west.
you folks are flipping out over nothing. GS is a very good team and everything they threw up was going in. ***** happens in the NBA. On any given night any team can beat another team. It is no cause for panic!
Positives though...Scola is a beast. 16 rebounds again, 36 points I think. And he could have had more had the Rockets played their style of ball and not the Warriors.
we were out-shot. they didnt kill us on the boards. they didnt play smart basketball. they didnt drive and penetrate. they didnt draw fouls. they didnt kill us in the paint. they didnt setup great plays. they just hit jumper after jumper after jumper after jumper. some were open, a lot were not. Houston didnt have a great shooting night, but 47% is not bad. They werent just lost on defense all the time either. I havent seen a backcourt do 68 pts damage in a while, and it might as well be Kobe scoring 81 because what happened tonight was nuts. Houston played relatively smart basketball offensively for not having great rhythm, but couldnt make a dent because anytime they'd get within 2 after being down 10... GS would make another tough jumper. Yao being out was a mistake. Brooks made constant mistakes. Battier was an offensive ghost and average defensively. Ellis and Curry were amazing. Wright shooting 50% from 3 didnt hurt. every GS starter shot over 55% This is the kind of game that just makes you angry because you feel like there's not much that you could do. When a game feels out of control or out of your hands it "feels" unfair, heh. I didnt want to to strangle any of the Rockets, I just wanted GS to go 2 possessions without scoring on some long contested jumper. ok there, I posted in the right thread.
