"how many rings have you won" is a lame comment on any coach. and you know that.

yao is not particularly t/o prone and that's a fact. when he turns over, it looks clumsy and that's due to his size and velocity. watch his game and compare his t/o numbers to other bigs who touch the ball as much as he does. and you prolly know that, too.

yao doesn't play only on one side of the court. he has huge impacts on both offense and defense of this team. you said it yourself, when he comes out, our interior d instantly becomes a piece of swiss cheese.

and yao can play more than one way as well. it depends on how a coach wants to utilize him. just ask rudy who coached yao's rookie year.

and, no matter the rules, old or new, if the refs don't learn how to officiate yao and quickly, it really doesn't make a difference. e.g., i watch dhoward a lot more than i do other non-rockets players this year. howard is averaging >11 fta and yao is barely over 6. that is a joke which proves my point here.

you're just too biased towards yao. i said he's not akeem-like good, but i firmly believe he'd be good enough to play a center and a center-piece role for a championship team.

ever thought to take a step back and look at things some other way sometimes?

"I think we played into their hands," Yao said. "They want to play fast. They want to fast break. They run on misses."

is this a subtle way for yao to express his thoughts? i don't quite like it.

hey, i guess nobody in this thread knew there is altercation between Yao and Altman in the third quater, it was about 3 mintures left in the third quater, rockets was down about 10, and Altman called time out, Yao went straight to Altman, said: " I can't play if we play like this." After the time out, Yao stayed on the court, and 3 straight possesion, rockets went to Yao, Yao scored 5 points, and Rafer made a 3 from a pass from Yao.

    Houston, we got a problem!

The rockets officially now don't have any system for offense or defense. They are just bunch of individuals on the court.

    That means, we are screwed

Watch the video, you'll see, after the timeout, Yao went straight to the adelman from center of the court and spoke to him. I was told by a friend of mine who was in the game. Yao was obviously frustrated!!!

not that i don't believe you. and i do know they called 3 str8 plays for yao after that timeout. i was actually a bit surprised that yao stayed in the game, 'cause that usually should be the time to sub him out (late in the 3rd).

now to think of it, yao was on the court at the beginning of the 4th, and that's not his usual pattern. they continued to go to him 2 or 3 str8 possessions with no success, and then yao disappeared for the rest of the game.

maybe it is a lot uglier from the inside than from the outside...

Since Rafer came back from injury, the last 8 games, Brooks has been shooting 27% 18/66 FGA. In the same 8 games stretch, Yao has been shooting 42% 47/111 FGA and averaged 17.8PPG and 9.4RPG. When one of our 3 stars and one of our top reserve struggled like that coupled with 2 of our 3 stars have been in and out of the active roster no wonder the rockets have gone 2-6 in these games.
Problem is how the rockets gonna solve the offense struggle as well as the missing defense and start to win games? Seriously i really don't see the team can improve now without sudden healthy of all the main guys. Seems like the season is going be short! :(

I doubt yao has the gut to confront anyone. He only dare to whine to the chinese media. At most he was begging Adelman to run a few plays for him during the timeouts!

DIdnt anyone see Tmac taking his sweet arse time running back on defense? Look at the fast break points! Watch the game again and you will see Tmac shuffling back every time.

I saw this also. It seems this entire drama may have simply been Doc Rivers Part II all along.

I do and I've lowered my expectations of Yao. I keep calling him Brad Daughtery, but when I say that, you and others want to put him past that. What's I between Daughtery and Dream? I've said and been complimentary towards Yao, but I recognize what he is and what he can't do. His turnovers aren't because of size or coordination, most are because of lack of strength and play recognition. Rudy coached Yao as a rookie when expectations were unknown, but now people expect him to produce at a high level. His rookie year, stuff was cute and surprising, now its expected. I think yao has failed to close the holes is his game which have him stagnated as a player. I'm not saying he's the problem, I just look at it kinda like Adelman in a sense. He has a big guy that has to be spoon fed, can shoot ft's really good, but can't shoot ft line jumpers. Has a good understanding of the passing game, but can't pass. Stamina is ok, but plays with a lack of energy a lot. Is a paint clogger on defense, but gets exposed by jump shooting bigs. So basically Adelman is painted in a corner with Yao. That corner is low left block, feed him until he's tired, stagnate the offense. Then when he goes out, the defense suffers because the only guy that can play in the offense without beng a big liability on offense is landry who stands 6'8.

Ibm- You brought up Howard and his ft atts vs Yao. The reason he shoots more ft's is because he's always going to the basket vs away. Anytime you go to the basket as opposed to shooting fallaway jumpers, you're going to get the call. There is a reason why the top ft atts guys are all basket attack types. You don't see any jump shooters on that list. Moses would draw a lot more fouls than kareem. When yao plays with energy and aggression, he gets the calls and goes to the ft line. When he act like he doesn't want to play like last night, we see what happens. On that one play he didn't even cross half court, got the ball on a snowbird and got blocked, but it turned into a foul.
