I think it's more on Yao. Adelman has tried to get Yao to do things in the high post but Yao has been reluctant to for whatever reason. I remember Adelman saying some of his players are still stuck in the ways of JVG, and i'm guessing he's reffering to Yao.

Portland played with more defensive energy in the second half. They put themselves in a position to win in the final minutes. The high pick-and-roll served well for them in the 4th quarter. Outcome could've been different if they didn't brick some of their open shots.

Blazers is a good home team, but they are below .500 on the road. Having to play catch-up from such a big deficit from the first half did them in. Blazer fans might complain about some of the fouls against them, but the refs miscalled a few on Houston which should even out. This includes Przybilla's flop and Yao getting stitched up.

Good overall team effort for the Rockets. A few of the Rox players took risks leaving their man for double teaming and steals, which looks great when they pay off, but sometimes a player has to play his man honest. The Rox played the percentages on Blazer's perimeter offense (.333). Left Batum open beyond the arc and he hit 3/3 treys.

I'd like to see a little better defensive rotation. Find a way to limit the opponent's high pick and rolls against Houston's guards and Yao. Blake and Roy over matched Houston's guards in size. Despite them having a good game, Brooks/Lowry/Wafer held their own. Scrappy Scola had a number of memorable offensive rebounds and Artest played solid. Nice to see the Chuck waggon score a few buckets.

    [side note]
    * Someone at the game reported that Oden was oogling over the power dancers, while blazers were in a huddle. Maybe he wished he was the Rockets mascot: Clutch the bear, who was rolling over the Rocket power dancers.

Why Spurs can play back to back games both at home? Is that kind of strange?

The refs suck the joy out of the game. They practically took Yao out of the whole game. I wonder if they were doing a rehearsal for the Cleveland game.

Okay. AB has no consistency and no backcourt vision. He will never be a PG. But this team won more games when he started. I'm happy to see AB play more minutes.

He's a pretty damn good scorer though. 8-20 I am fine with that shooting pct. I dont think the team needs "true" point guards, just good guards that can score, penetrate, generally be an offensive threat. Lowry and Brooks fit that description. Adelman's offense is about everyone moving the ball well and creating shots for each other, not just one player 'facilitating'.

In fact Tony Parker fits the above description as well. Although he's probably a rich man's Brooks and Lowry.

the hell we welcome this kinda things to China. let them jack themselves off in their own land and leave ours alone...

seriously, has Yao been doing extremly well lately or wut? the man had one bad game (we still pulled this one out with other players' efforts) and some ppl finally have the chance to jumb out to diss him like he's the shame of the team. i mean look at his numbers, numbers dont lie and the numbers say that Yao's one of the most reliable guy that we have. Yao just has one bad game, nothing more.

To yao, I just don't get u sometimes. i know u r not a athletic freak, but come on! it was just the beginnng and u r 7'6, the two dunks were uncontested, y rush them? that was frastrated. calm down and dunk the **** with ease like u suppose to.

Now I could see if you said Artest will never be a point guard, Battier will never be a point guard, but Brooks??

If I am not mistaken, he played point guard at Oregon. He was drafted as a point guard, and I think he has the tools to be a successful point guard (e.g., good passing skills, quickness, and a decent shooter). Now he does need to further develop his court vision, decision making capability, and his post up defense, and I believe this can be done.

However to say he will never be one is pre-mature. Give him some time.

I hope Adelman will have a wrinkle in his offense next game to counter the defense fronting Yao. Possibly a triangle, with Scola at the free throw line?
Also Aaron and Kyle need to go over defending the pick and roll for half of practice tomorrow, if they have one.
