They have a right to. Terry was clearly fouled. But then again, the Refs, aside from the Terry possession, practically GAVE the game to the Mavs in the final two minutes, and they STILL couldn't win.
Ariza actually didn't suck in this game. He played within himself, didn't take his usual missed 3 pt shots, and made at least 3 crucial steals in this game that tipped the momentum in our favor. Give him props.
great game. rockets kind of lucked out when they were missing shots. It feels so great after a win over them stupid mavs. Take that terry; cuban; dirk!!!!!!!!!! Another good game for AB and also tahnk u Shane for that three. BTW, happy new year everyone.
So my family had our x-mas about a week early so that we could get everybody together. I celebrated x-mas the last time we played the Mavs. The Rockets gave me a win over the hated Mavs for x-mas. Now, they gave me a very happy New Year. Go Rockets!
this is a testament that whiners never win and amount to anything..... hey Cuban, the game is won on the court, not in the board room,......
Adding to this post, Nick Collison just got a call with 4.5 seconds left in the Thunder game to give the Thunder the lead from the FT line. It's not just superstars that get the calls.
Are we all forgetting the phantom foul that was called Battier in the final 60 or so seconds? We have an example of much less contact being called in the same game not a minute earlier. You might be able to argue that the no-call on Terry was a makeup for the BS that was called on Shane, but that still doesnt excuse the other two calls on the other end.
I wasnt able to watch the game, but I was watching the gamecast on my phone. What did Battier get the tech for?
Laying into the official (verbally) for blowing the call where he went after a loose ball and Dirk pushed him out of bounds. The ref gave the ball to the Mavs.
Great way to end the year Rox! Really fun win despite all the ref un-intervention in the end. Happy New Year Clutchfans
Sefko showing some love for the Rox... http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/stories/010110dnspomavslede.32f92ccb.html HOUSTON - It was New Year's Eve and the Mavericks pulled out their champagne poppers at just the right moment. Too bad they were all duds. The Mavericks made the mistake of getting in a shooting contest with the Houston Rockets, who are just better at that game. Six consecutive missed jump shots late in the game doomed the Mavericks to a 97-94 loss at Toyota Center. The Mavericks' cold spell left them down by 95-89, but they still had a chance to tie it at the end when they benefited from a technical foul on Shane Battier. Dirk Nowitzki's free throw made it 97-94. Both teams missed, then the Mavericks inbounded with 8 seconds left. The ball whipped around from Jason Terry to Nowitzki and finally to Jason Kidd, who got a terrific look at a 3-pointer, which rimmed out just before the buzzer. The Mavericks had trailed by as much as 14 in the second half but fought back to tie it at 89. Both teams went frigid from there. They both got a little happy with jump shots and nobody could buy one until Shane Battier connected from the corner with 2:08 left to put the Rockets up 92-89. It was the beginning of the Mavericks' cold stretch, which in the end was too much to overcome.
http://www.thetwomangame.com/ If you had to pick the centerpiece of the Houston Rockets this season, it would probably be Trevor Ariza. Errrr, maybe it would be Aaron Brooks. Or Luis Scola. Or Shane Battier. Or Carl Landry. Or Chuck Hayes. In a vacuum completely devoid of traditional superstars, the redeeming value of the Rockets lies in their disregard for the traditional model. There was no desperation to play Tracy McGrady upon his return, or to make a deal for an overpaid quasi-star. Just a team full of professionals working hard and playing in concert, in part because Trevor Ariza, while good, falls short of great: Posted the next part in a seperate thread [Hardwood Paroxysm]
Dateline Houston, Dec 31, 2009 Mark Cuban is protesting Eric Dampier and Dirk Nowitski's charmin-soft play against the Rockets. NBA upholds the protest, but then says "We arent exactly sure what Mr Cuban wants us to do, they are his players."
