Someone asked for the URL for a Mavs forum: here's one that I've lurked at once or twice (and hated every minute of it): http://www.dallas-mavs.com/vb/index.php
Not sure what the refs saw.. waiting to see that play again..insane if they were in position and still missed it..
Adelman sounds like he's coming down with a sickness when he was doing that post-game conference. Hope he's ok!
I saw the replay at least 3 times and there was a ref looking right at the play. I repeat, he was looking RIGHT AT THE FREAKIN' PLAY, THE DUMB ****.
Pretty sure it was a make-up non-call for the foul they missed on Terry at the other end. The officiating was pretty bad both ways there at the end.
Watching the post game here in Dallas on the local channel... Rick Carlisle is such a Jim Carrey look alike. It always hits me as "spitting image."
Refs with bad calls at the end of the game: -Shane Battier gets a clean block on Josh Howard (called a foul on Shane) -Dirk pushes Shane out of bounds when Shane was trying to save the ball (called out of bounds off Shane) -Terry is fouled on a drive to the basket (no-call, most likely a make-up call for the last two calls) -Brooks is fouled on a drive to the basket (no-call, probably because Terry play before was similar) So from this progression of events, you can somewhat justify why the refs didn't call a foul for Brooks... the refs still completely sucked though
Terry the rat that is missing hair and eats cheese from a mouse trap and the Red Nation watches as the trap takes out Terry and Cuban decides to file a protest but Landry comes by punches DampY in the mouth and throws AB into CUban who drops the protest and falls off the team bus as its moving and falls into Kidd who brought his own car and he hits a wall which throws him off the over pass and he fallsonto the Caveman Nowitzki who breaks his back his fire he was maling sets off a fire work on the New Years Eve which hits Marion and causes the team bus to catch on fire as Landry and Ab jump off and the bus explodes!! We WIN!!

I think that's exaggerated to an extent. There is some truth to it but it's not an absolute. The superstars happen to be better at drawing fouls and are the ones most often with the ball in their hands late in games so you see more instances where they call those fouls. They're also more experienced in those situations and know how to get the calls. Just a few nights ago, Zach Randolph got a call with 0.3 seconds left: http://www.nba.com/games/20091228/WASMEM/gameinfo.html Brooks, himelf, got a much softer call in Golden State. Additionally, superstars get calls go against them at times. LeBron's been called for offensive fouls late in games. He's been fouled where they didn't blow the whistle. He's been called for traveling in pivotal moments, too. I agree that Brooks should limit those forays to the basket late in games but it's not like he should avoid looking to get close the basket if the opportunity presents itself. He had a wide open lane unlike what he did in Portland. Maybe he should pull up instead of going all the way to the basket but still, I think he will usually get a blatant call like the one tonight. That foul was much more severe than Blake's slap on his arm in Portland. Basically, I think any player should and would get that call on a blatant foul in most circumstances, regardless of the name on their jersey. Our sample size of Brooks' drives to the baskets to end games is like 5 or 6 instances and he's gotten the call once when he's been fouled. They've probably blown 2 or 3 calls at most so I think it's premature to say don't drive to the basket ever. If nothing else, it keeps opposing defenses and scouts honest in how they play him, giving him more room for pull ups and outside shots. Having said all that, Lowry would probably be a better option taking it to the basket in that situation as far as our current set of perimeter options go. He has a better chance of getting that call because of his ability to sell contact. Maybe we should put the ball in Ariza's hands. The problem is he's not much of a threat to shoot off the dribble so opposing teams will completely lay off him.
